The Option Category Residual Value Uplift form is accessed by way of Fleet Quotations / Miscellaneous Options / Data Import / Residual Value Uplift Table. Some leasing companies require the facility to allocate vehicle manufacturer options to a category that contains a residual % uplift. This allows them to quote competitively for vehicles with value added optional extras.
For a particular option category a % value is held which is then applied to the residual value of the vehicle quoted.
For example, a Ford Mondeo 36 months/60, 000 miles has a vehicle residual of £5000 or 45% of the list price. Metallic paint as a category is set to 100% uplift and on the Mondeo example has a list price of £300. For that Mondeo if metallic is added to the quote the calculated residual would be, 100% of 45% for the option list price or 1 x 0.45 x 300 = £135 (+ the vehicle residual of £5000 = a quoted residual of £5135 for that vehicle with metallic paint as an optional extra).
The categories are applied to all passenger cars regardless of Products when quoting. When quoting the additional residual value for a category is automatically calculated if applicable; the main quotations form does not display how the revised figure is adjusted.
This functionality is managed utilising the file updates provided by CAP for New Vehicle Pricing. Part of the data set available includes an option category file and a factory option to category cross-reference file. These files form the option categories required to use the functionality. For car data a generic ASCII data set is supplied by CAP that contains 2 files, cgolink and cgtext.
The file cgtext is supplied as part of the NVPO data set and contains a code and description. This file determines the categories for factory fitted options for cars. e.g.
- CGTEXT.N28 28/11/2003
- 39 Rear armrest
- 40 Front head restraints
- 41 Rear headrests
- 42 Sports seats
- 43 Alloy wheels
- 44 Steel wheels
- 45 Cloth seat trim
This file works in conjunction with the cgolink file that contains an option code and a corresponding category for all current vehicles.
- CGOLINK.N28 28/11/2003
- 242 65
- 243 43
- 254 63
- 254 65
- 262 43
- 264 43
- 278 43
- 285 43
- 288 43
- 290 43
- 292 43
- 294 43
- 299 43
Each option code is imported and held against the variant applicable at manufacturer, model or individual vehicle level. In the example above Category 43 is Alloy Wheels and will be applied to options 262 - 299 inclusive.
The constituent parts of the Option Category Residual Value Uplift form are as follows:
In addition to displaying the form name the Title Bar provides a number of useful buttons.
The following fields are displayed:
The franchise code to which the option category RV % uplift are to be applied e.g. FO.
The model code to which the option category RV % uplift are to be applied e.g. FCC.
The variant code to which the option category RV % uplift are to be applied e.g. 26364.
The option type code i.e. Factory or Dealer.
Part of the CAP data set includes an option category file and a factory option to category cross-reference file. The file cgtext is supplied as part of the NVPO data set and contains a category code and description. This file determines the categories for factory fitted options for cars.
The full textual description for the option e.g. Alloy Wheels.
For a particular option category a residual value percentage is held which is then applied to the residual value of the vehicle when a quotation is generated.
This column holds a value which places an upper ceiling on the maximum residual value that can be generated. If this is set to £200 then regardless of what residual value is calculated the residual is set at £200 for that option i.e. the maximum value)
Note: A single-right-click on any row within this grid displays the following sub-menu (with options being enabled/disabled as appropriate):
Displays the Vehicle Selection form so that the appropriate vehicle variant, containing the required option for uplift, is displayed. Following selection of the required vehicle the Option RV Uplift Record form is displayed so that a new option uplift record may be created.
Displays the Option RV Uplift Record form so that an existing option uplift record may be modified.
Deletes the currently selected option uplift record row.
This grid displays the progress of records being updated.
Displays the option category (see above)currently being updated.
Displays each of the franchise codes to which the option category RV % uplift is being applied e.g. FO.
Displays each of the model codes to which the option category RV % uplift is being applied e.g. FCC.
Displays each of the variant codes to which the option category RV % uplift is being applied e.g. 26364.
Displays the option codes against which option category RV % uplift is being applied.
Displays the total number of option records that have been updated during the current process.
A number of command buttons are available. The full list of command buttons is as follows:
When this command button is selected the option categories are checked against all the relevant options in Franchise data at the Build Spec level and the residual value % is allocated. The % residual uplift is applied to the options that contain that category. A series of blue bars and the Update DD Progress grid display progress of the update.
The update routine needs to be run after each data import as new options may have been added for existing or new models.
When the option is selected within a quotation the % calculation is made to a maximum of the value permitted, (Max RV). The option residual value is added to the base vehicle residual value.
Note: In the Calculation Details Tab in Fleet Quotations / System Maintenance / System Parameters the Option RV Type of R (%age of RV%)calculates the residual value in the manner described above.
Exits the import routine and returns to the form.
