Viewing Text Files

Note: This help system contains standard information, some of which might not apply to your franchise. Click the Help button on the relevant forms or menus to see any existing help file specific to your Autoline configuration for that form or menu. Alternatively, a help file may exist in the Table of Contents specific to your manufacturer.

The text file viewer form lets you view any text file.

Buttons:

Close: Closes the form.

Help: Displays help on this file viewer program. (Currently displays this page.)

Print: Sends the raw file to the currently selected printer.

Refresh: Re-reads the raw file, and displays the contents.

Downloads: Downloads a copy of the file to your personal computer. A list of directories is displayed for you to select the local folder and click OK. After this, the message File transferred successfully is displayed. Clicking OK ensures that the file is downloaded to the selected folder and you are returned to the file viewer. You can open the downloaded file with any text file editor.

Search criteria:

[Search text]: Text for the search must be typed in here. The following three search buttons become available when you type in search text then press the TAB key: Search, Reset, Filter.

Caseless: Selecting this check box ignores the case of the text in the search.

Search Criteria Buttons:

Search: Searches the file for the required text. The Next and Previous buttons then become available if applicable.

Reset: Re-sets the search criteria and the grid. (Re-displays the lines.)

Filter: Displays all occurrences only of the search results.

Previous: Finds the previous occurrence of the search text in the file. This occurrence is highlighted on the form.

Next: Finds the next occurrence of the search text in the file. This occurrence is highlighted on the form.

Line numbers:

Show: Selecting this check box displays line numbers in the left-hand margin of the form.

Increments Drop-down: Select the number of lines to be displayed. A scroll bar is displayed if the file is longer than the grid. Initially, shows 150 lines of the file. The increment number is the number of lines added to the display when you have scrolled to the bottom of the list.

Go to line TestExecute.gif : Clicking the blue right-arrow goes to the line specified in this box, provided that it is within range (otherwise, you see an error message). Line numbers in the box correspond to those in the left-hand margin of the form, provided that the Show check box has already been selected.

File direction:

Reverse: Selecting this check box reverses the order of the lines. You can see the new order in the left-hand margin if the Show check box has already been selected.

Font:

Fixed: Selecting this check box displays fixed-width text in the grid. This means that the text characters are evenly spaced.
