Options, colours and trims are not uniquely identified within the franchise data supplied by Ford. They need to be assigned option codes in the Option code mapping table. These codes can be identified by the first two characters (USC code).
If an import was previously performed, the table will have been populated with each unique USC code. The option types will have been assigned a presumed type and a source of Generated.
If you do perform an import any new USC codes is recognised and created in the same way. During the import process, if any USC codes are found that have a source of Generated, the import process will terminate and an e-mail will be sent to the assigned e-mail address.
Any codes that have a Generated source will be highlighted in blue in the table to assist visibility. You must confirm them to ensure that the correct option type is assigned.
Option Type Mapping Grid:
USC code: Two digit unique USC code.
Option type: Type of option associated with the code. For example, colour, trim.
Source: Indicates if the USC code has been confirmed. (It will be Generated if the code has not been confirmed and User if the code has been confirmed).
Dealer Fitted Options Group:
Exclude dealer fitted options: Exclude dealer fitted options from the data import.
Ford vehicle descriptions are supplied at a component level (model + derivative + body + transmission + engine). These descriptions may be too long for the system to use. You can use the word map to shorten the vehicle description by substituting or omitting words within the component descriptions.
You can also use the word map to define certain codes within the variant record. For example, body style, fuel type and transmission code. When a word is used to define a code, but the word itself must be substituted, the system sets the substitution to the word NULL.
When the system is first set up, a standard data set is imported. This set up will identify if the word Ford has been excluded and, if not, will add it to the list. You can also make further changes to the data set.
When the word map type is selected, the code type will change to reflect the choice of codes available. For example:
Type Code | Type Description | Codes Available |
---|---|---|
B | Body style | Body styles |
E | Engine | Fuel types |
M | Model | None |
T | Transmission | Transmission |
V | Variant | None |
Word Map Grid:
Type: Type of variant.
Word: Word to be substituted.
Substitution: Word or abbreviation to be used in place of original word.
Code: Variant code. For example, if the Type is Body style, the code can be H for Hatchback.
Vehicle Descriptions Group:
Use full variant descriptions for VSB and Showroom: Use full variant description, without abbreviations and substitutions, for Vehicle Stockbook and Showroom.
Use full variant descriptions for POS: Use full variant descriptions, without abbreviations and substitutions, for Point of Sale.
Use full variant descriptions for CRM: Use full variant descriptions, without abbreviations and substitutions, for Marketing.
