GME is undertaking a programme of projects known as the GRI (Global Retail Integration) to deliver a common European retail solution. The GME Order Workbench (OWB) is a project within the GRI programme that has the following specific goals:
Improving the efficiency of the European GM retail back-office dealer-facing order management process.
Developing a European web-based retail order management workbench that will enable GM retailers (existing and new) to maximise the benefits of Block Exemption Rules (BER).
In order to maximise the potential benefits of the changes in the BER, GM wants to make it easy for new retailers to do business with GM. In this way, GM will be positioned to maximise the impact of BER on its various marketing channels. The GME OWB Project aims to deliver this overall project goal through achieving the following project objectives:
Minimising outlet infrastructure requirements
Improve quality of orders entered through target outlets
Increasing order throughput
Creating a Workbench that will be embraced by target outlets
Reducing total cost of ownership of doing business with GM (so far as hardware, software and training are concerned)
Providing user-friendly intuitive OWB that will meet requirements of all existing and new retailers
Enabling new outlets with minimum infrastructure (no 3270 / DCS2)
Autoline users will see the following benefits:
Significantly reduced time and effort required for effective vehicle administration.
Users can only configure vehicles that the factory can build.
Creation of multiple pre-order configurations without cluttering the DMS.
Locate and call-off existing units that match specified configurations and update the DMS accordingly.
Ability to order new vehicles and update the DMS accordingly.
Ability to modify configurations for confirmed orders and update the DMS accordingly.
Obtaining up-to-date information regarding specific units and updating the DMS accordingly.
Viewing order summaries.
