Terminology

Advanced Analysis: The AUTOLINE Advanced Analysis system provides paperless exception reporting with the ability to Drill Down into summarised figures at any point for further detailed analysis.

Datasets: Actual or Budget figures

Drill Down: The process of Drill Down allows a summarised figure at any level to be dissected by the next level of detail.

Drill down files: The index files that are generated by the option Generate drill down.

Formal files: The files that are generated by the option Process raw data.

Inclusion Field: The fields that contain the different inclusion codes dictating what data can be shown or excluded in an Advanced Analysis view.

Overlay: An executable program. Used to give certain Advanced Analyses greater drill-down capabilities.

Profile: A view inside a Topic. Each TOPIC can have up to 8 different profiles.

Raw data file: A file that is updated from a Report Generator Update report and which is used to feed the Advanced Analysis formal files.

Rawfield: An individual field in the raw data file.

Report Generator: An AUTOLINE product used in this case to write reports that capture data from different files and, on execution of the update command, write to a single raw data file.

Rotation: Rotation allows the view at any stage to display an alternative breakdown.

Timeslice: The period(s) that are to be displayed in the Advanced Analysis.

Topic: A generic term used to describe an Advanced Analysis on a specific area.

A Topic is made up of Profiles. Each profile has a different view of the same data.

Update report: The reports that are run in modules' Report Generators, updating raw data files to feed advanced analysis.

X-axis: One of the two axes that exist in a profile.

Y-axis: The second axis of a profile.
