Introduction

Manufacturer-specific Autoline modules typically access one or more data files. The generic file editor enables you to view and amend such files directly.

Note: You may find that you are unable to add, amend or delete a record.

What do you want to do?

Loading a File in the Edit File (...) Form

To load a file in the Edit File (...) form:

Note: This procedure assumes you have displayed a form with a Utilities option in its menu bar. Its sub-options load the files accessed by the manufacturer-specific module, denoted by [file] in these help pages.

Select Utilities > [file] from the menu bar.

The Edit File (...) form is displayed with the selected file's records listed in the grid.

Deleting a Record

Note: This procedure assumes you have loaded the required file in the Edit File (...) form.

To delete a record:

  1. On the Edit File (...) form, do one of:

A Delete Record dialog box is displayed containing the message:

Are you sure that you want to permanently delete this record?

  2. Click Yes.

The record is deleted from the file and the grid is redisplayed, the line for the deleted record being omitted.

GRID:

The grid's top two rows are column headings containing field names of the file's records, in English and in code, respectively. Subsequent rows contain the file's records.

The left-most column, in grey, is the main sort field and any yellow columns are secondary sort fields.

The grid displays a maximum of 100 records at a time, more being displayed by row request when you reach the bottom. The fourth panel of the status bar states how much of the file is displayed.

Tip: Use the Tools > ... options on the menu bar to reorder, filter, and/or crop the list of displayed records.

It also indicates the sort direction by triple chevrons (>>> indicating forwards and <<< indicating backwards).

Panel 3: Indicates whether filter criteria are applied to the grid. One of:

Panel 4: States how much of the file is displayed as two pairs of two figures; absolute and percentage. The first pair is the number of records read so far as an absolute total and as a percentage of the file. The second set indicates the number actually displayed excluding any records omitted by filter criteria. If no filters have been set, both pairs should be the same.
