The Chassis Validation program provides the functionality to have unique MB vehicles in the system. The vehicles are identified by the chassis number and it is not allowed to create a duplicate. The chassis number is also checked on the correct format entered and the check digit entered.
The chassis number is validated, in the Showroom (SR), the Vehicle Stockbooks (VS), Point of Sale (SO) and the CRM (MK) module.
After you have entered the chassis number, the number is checked on:
The correct format, when this is wrong a corresponding message is given to the user.
The correct check-digit, when this is wrong the Chassis Validation form is opened with the correct check-digit.
When a vehicle description is available, the vehicle type of the baumuster should be transferred to the vehicle description.
When the entered chassis number exists in the CRM module, the data from the vehicle record of CRM is populated in the fields concerned.
When the entered chassis number exists in the CRM module, the user cannot create the vehicle in the CRM module for the second time.
Correct chassis number structure:
Position | Code | Description |
---|---|---|
1 - 3 | (AN) | World Manufacturer Code (WMC) |
4 - 6 | (N) | Model code (First part of baumuster) |
7 - 9 | (N) | Type (Second part of baumuster) |
10 | (N) | Steering |
11 | (AN) | Plant |
12 - 17 | (N) | Serial number (Production number) |
18 | (N) | Check digit |
Note: The Environment variables MBCHECKVIN needs to have the value TRUE and the MBVINCHECKDIG should NOT have the value FALSE, if you want to use the chassis validation plus the check-digit validation.
Tip: The chassis validation is executed before the Case File form is opened and a message is displayed when the chassis number has an incorrect format or the check-digit is wrong / unavailable.
This form is displayed when you do one of the following (a, b, c, d or e):
Click Showroom > Quotations > create a new vehicle, create a used vehicle, or open an existing enquiry > add a new trade-in to the enquiry > enter the chassis number of the trade-in in the correct format but with a wrong or no check-digit.
Click Vehicle Stockbooks > Vehicle Administration > create a new vehicle, create a used vehicle, or create a new trade-in > enter the chassis number in the correct format but with a wrong or no check-digit.
Click Point of Sale > Point-of-sale > create a (passer-by) vehicle via the Extended Vehicle Details form > enter the chassis number in the correct format but with a wrong or no check-digit.
Click CRM > My Desktop > create a vehicle record > enter the chassis number in the correct format but with a wrong or no check-digit.
Note: If the chassis number exists in another CRM vehicle record, it is not possible to create a second vehicle with the same chassis number.
Click CRM > Stock Functions > Book in Stock Vehicles > book / bring in the vehicle into stock > enter the chassis number in the correct format but with a wrong or no check-digit.
Note: When you enter a chassis number that exists in CRM, the data from the vehicle record of CRM is populated in the fields concerned.
On this form the Vehicle type description is displayed above the chassis number. The Chassis number is divided over five fields, where you have to enter the Serial number and the Check-digit in the last two fields. Also a message is displayed concerning the correct check-digit of the chassis number and (if applicable) the CRM vehicle record in case of a duplicate chassis number.
Buttons:
OK: Returns to the previous form and populates the chassis number field after re-entering the correct serial number with the matching check-digit.
Help: Displays this help topic in a web browser.
Note: Often a vehicle record is created in Autoline before the vehicle is delivered. In this case the chassis number field is often used as the order number of the vehicle. When entering a hash # before the order number of the vehicle the chassis validation is skipped. Make sure when you know the actual chassis number of the vehicle it is updated correctly!
