If at any stage of the process CESAR is unable to carry out a requested action, it may send back a message saying that the requested process has ended.
If neither the Launch Vehicle Configurator button or the Launch Vehicle Configurator option on the Tools menu are available from an appropriate Showroom form, two main possibilities account for this:
You may have ticked only franchises that do not support CESAR, in which case return to the Showroom Enquiries - Select A Franchise form, untick all franchises and return to step 3 in the CESAR New Vehicle Quotation Process.
Alternatively, you may have selected more than one franchise that does support CESAR. The CESAR browser must know which franchise to connect to. This becomes evident when a model is selected. In that case click the Next button to proceed to the Showroom Enquiries - Select a Model form, from where you can launch CESAR after selecting a model. Alternatively return to the Showroom Enquiries - Select A Franchise form, untick all franchises and return to step 3 in the CESAR New Vehicle Quotation Process.
Can't continue with the vehicle configurator until customer details are made available. Do you want to specify one now?
Displayed when your system is set (in parameters) to force customer details. You cannot launch CESAR without first selecting customer details. The message box contains two buttons; Quit and Continue. Do one of the following:
Click Quit to return to Showroom, from where you can launch CESAR after selecting customer details.
Click Continue to invoke customer search facilities to select a customer record or create a new one. The last stage of the customer selection process is editing (or viewing) the Customer Details form. Selecting its Next button starts the CESAR browser.
Note:
The Customer Details form's Next button starts the CESAR browser only when you have selected customer details after clicking the Launch Vehicle Configurator button or selecting Tools > Launch Vehicle Configurator from the menu bar.
Can't connect to CESAR. Do you want to try again?
Displayed in the following circumstances:
When you click the Launch Vehicle Configurator button or you select Tools > Launch Vehicle Configurator from the menu bar of the Showroom Enquiries - Select A Franchise form, - Select a Model form, or - Vehicles Matching Criteria Entered... form and the connection to CESAR fails. (This can happen because of a variety of causes including temporarily heavy internet traffic.) The dialog box contains two buttons; Yes and No. Do one of the following:
Click the dialog box's No button to proceed in off-line mode.
You specify the vehicle in Showroom using imported MDPLUS franchise data. The enquiry or quote must be validated by CESAR later as indicated by the Cash order form's CESAR Valid/Exp field containing the text Needs Validation/No expiry... and the CESAR Status/Off field containing the text Cannot determine.
Note: Using Showroom in off-line mode continues only for the enquiry or quote for which the CESAR connection failed. When you start a new enquiry, it again attempts to connect to CESAR. A showroom enquiry can proceed to the stage of printing and confirming an order in off-line mode (order status C), but it cannot be accepted into the vehicle stock books module until it has been validated by CESAR.
The next time the quote is recalled, the software attempts to reconnect to CESAR to validate it.
Tip:
If you inadvertently click the No button, the Launch Vehicle Configurator button and the Tools > Launch Vehicle Configurator option on the menu bar are no longer displayed. To redisplay them, click the Back button to step backwards through the forms all the way to step 2 in the CESAR New Vehicle Quotation Process.
Alternatively, re-attempt connecting to CESAR by clicking the dialog box's Yes button.
If successful, you can proceed with the CESAR process, otherwise it redisplays the message Can't connect to CESAR. Do you want to try again?
The Can't connect to CESAR... message is also displayed when invoicing a vehicle ordered through CESAR and the connection to CESAR fails. (It checks with CESAR for stock availability.) Do one of the following:
Click the dialog box's No button to proceed in off-line mode.
The following message is displayed:
Could not check stock availability on CESAR. Connection to CESAR failed.
You cannot continue until CESAR is again available.
Alternatively, re-attempt connecting to CESAR by clicking the dialog box's Yes button.
If successful, Autoline checks CESAR's record of stock availability for this dealer. If stock is available, you can continue, otherwise it redisplays the message Can't connect to CESAR. Do you want to try again?
The Can't connect to CESAR... message is also displayed when carrying out a manual status update of a vehicle ordered through CESAR on the Vehicle Administrator form and the connection to CESAR fails. (It checks with CESAR to update the vehicle's status.) Do one of the following:
Click the dialog box's No button to proceed in off-line mode.
The following message is displayed:
Couldn't send a request for status update because a connection to CESAR could not be established.
You cannot continue until CESAR is again available.
Alternatively, re-attempt connecting to CESAR by clicking the dialog box's Yes button.
If successful, the status information is be sent back from CESAR and update's the status file (MB.MS.csrst) and the vehicle record. Otherwise it redisplays the message Can't connect to CESAR. Do you want to try again?

Only N vehicles out of M were created.
The vehicle cannot be accepted until CESAR becomes available to validate the record. Click OK to return to the Accept Customer Orders form and try later or seek assistance to resolve the problem if it recurs.
Cannot Proceed with accepting this order into VSB.
There is a problem sending or getting acknowledgement of the order confirmation from CESAR.

This can happen where a connection to CESAR was established on logging on, but a connection problem occurred farther on through the process. The vehicle cannot be accepted until the connection to CESAR becomes available to transfer the necessary data.

Displayed when attempting to accept a non-CESAR-validated offer into VSB.
Cannot update this VSB record now.
Couldn't send a request for status update because a connection to CESAR could not be established.
The record's status is, in this case, updated by CESAR, which communicates that data to Autoline VSB. However, it is unable to do so when a connection between Autoline and CESAR cannot be made.
Could not check stock availability on CESAR. Connection to CESAR failed.
A second possible message displayed when invoicing a vehicle ordered through CESAR and the connection to CESAR fails. See under the first message, Can't connect to CESAR. Do you want to try again?
Could not send customer info to CESAR. To be tried again later on.
Displayed when the invoice for a vehicle ordered through CESAR is printed, and the connection to CESAR fails. (Autoline needs to inform CESAR that the dealer has sold the vehicle. It also sends final customer details.) Click the message box's OK button. The details are stored in the Invoiced details file (MB.MS.csinv), and an attempt to send them is made later through the Batch-send_Invoiced-trigger facility. Alternatively, it may be carried out automatically in the timed operations schedule.
More than one selected franchise support vehicle configuration over the web. Can only decide the respective configurator on selection of a variant!
This can occur when you go Back to the Showroom Enquiries - Select A Franchise form from a subsequent form and you click the Launch Vehicle Configurator button. Click the Next button to proceed to the Showroom Enquiries - Select a Model form, where you can launch CESAR after selecting a model.

Options of types F, C, T & P cannot be added directly to this vehicle. Such changes need to be routed through CESAR download from Showroom.
This results from attempting to add or remove an option that is the responsibility of the manufacturer in Vehicle Stock Books, which is not permitted. You must carry out such tasks in CESAR. To add or remove a factory option, you should cancel the vehicle acceptance in Showroom and make the changes. Some editing of factory options is permitted in VSB, however the right-click menu has the Delete line option greyed out if the line represents a factory option.
