This form enables the basic details to be entered for the creation of a new company record.
To access the new customer details:
From the Master Menu, select the Fleet Kompact option and Company required.
The Kompact Menu is displayed.
Select the Miscellaneous Options option.
The Miscellaneous Options form is displayed.
Select the Customer Details option.
The Customer Details form is displayed.
Select the icon.
The New Customer form is displayed that enables the basic details to be entered for the creation of a new company record.
This form is divided into three areas which are as follows:
In addition to displaying the form name and company the Title Bar provides a number of useful buttons.
The following fields are contained in the New Customer form:
Customer Code: The Customer code should be keyed directly. However, it is good practice to first check to see if the code already exists. Select the
button immediately to the right of the Customer Code field. This displays the Customer Search form. Enter all or part of the intended company code within the Word Search field (ensure the characters are uppercase). Tick the appropriate checkbox to search for either a Customer or Supplier. Alternatively, selection of Both will return codes that fall into either category. Select the Search command button. Any codes matching the entered selection criteria are displayed in the Customer Search List Box. If the code that has been entered does not appear within the list box then it is safe to create the record. Select the Esc button to return to the New Customer form. Enter the required company code within the Customer Code field.
Customer Type: If the new code is for a customer record (as opposed to a supplier) then the TAB key may be used to move to the Company Number field. This moves past the Customer Type field and accepts the default type of Customer. If a record needs to be created for a supplier type (or both) then the
button may be used to make the appropriate selection from the drop down list. Current customer types are as follows:

Company Number: If the CRM Company record number is known then this may be entered directly in this field. If not then the
button immediately to the right of the Company Number field may be used to initiate a CRM company record search. The CRM Record Maintenance form is displayed. Select the
button immediately to the right of the Record Number field. The CRM Company Search form is displayed. All or part of the required CRM company name may be entered within the Word Search field to search for the CRM Company record to which the Kompact company record is to be linked. The Search command button is then selected. A list of records (matching the selection criteria that has been entered) is displayed within the list box. The required record should be selected with the mouse (if more than one is displayed) and the OK command button selected. Select the Exit icon form the Toolbar in the CRM Record Maintenance form. The CRM Company Number and associated description are returned to the Company Number field in the New Customer form.
Customer Number: If the CRM Customer record (i.e. a person linked to the selected company) number is known then this may be entered directly in this field. If not then the
button immediately to the right of the Customer Number field may be used to initiate a CRM Customer record search. A Customer List is presented displaying all of the Customers currently linked to the selected company. The required record should be selected with the mouse and the OK command button selected. (There is also an opportunity to Create a Customer at this stage). The CRM Customer Number and associated description are returned to the Customer Number field in the New Customer form.
Create Sales Account: At this stage, it is possible to create a Sales Ledger account and link it to the company record that is being created. If this is required then this checkbox should be selected.
Account Code: This field is only enabled if the Create Sales Account checkbox is ticked. The required Sales Ledger account code e.g. P0002 may be entered directly if required. Selection of the
button immediately to the right of the Account Code field may be used to initiate a Customer Accounts search to ensure that the account does not already exist. All or part of the required account name may be entered within the Word Search field to search for the account record to which the Kompact company record is to be linked. The Shortname command button is then selected. A list of records (matching the selection criteria that has been entered) is displayed within the list box. If the account record does not exist then it may be entered in the Account Code field.
SL Account Source: Two mutually exclusive option buttons are presented which enable the Sales Ledger account to be created from the associated CRM Company record or primary Customer record.
COMMAND BUTTONS
Create: Following entry of required data, this command button is used to generate the new company record.
Cancel: Exits the New Customer form and returns to the Company Setup form without saving any changes.
Help: Displays online context-sensitive help using the default browser.
