Selection of Residual Manipulation (DP) (accessed via the Miscellaneous Options / Residual Values Management Menu) presents the Residual Value Manipulation form. This form is utilised to locate and select the appropriate vehicle for the purpose of adjusting the vehicle grid so that, ultimately, the resultant values are transferred to quotations and ratesbooks. This may be done by searching at Manufacturer, Model and Variant level.
This form is split into four parts, which are as follows:
In addition to displaying the form name the Title Bar provides a number of useful buttons.
The contents of the Residual Value Manipulation menu bar is as follows:
- Open
Allows an existing residual value table to be opened via the Vehicle Selection form.
- Save
Saves amendments to the current residual value table.
Displays the Print Selection Dialogue Box for the purposes of printing the current residual value table.
- Exit
Exits the current form and returns to the Residual Value Options menu. If the table has not been saved then the user is prompted to confirm that they wish to exit and save or cancel.
Provides online access to a context sensitive Help form. In addition, the About option provides the version number and copyright information relevant to this product.
As with the menu bar, the content of the toolbar is dependent upon the particular process that is being accessed. The full toolbar contents, however, are as follows:
Allows an existing residual value table to be opened via the Vehicle Selection form.
Saves amendments to the current residual value table.
Selection of this option displays the Print SelectionDialogue Box which provides a number of print options including: a drop-down list of available printers from which to select and selection of the item to be printed.
Deletes values within the current residual values table.
Exits the current form and returns to the Residual Value Options menu. If the table has not been saved then the user is prompted to confirm that they wish to exit and save or cancel.
Provides online access to a context sensitive Help form. In addition, the About option provides the version number and copyright information relevant to this product.
The residual value manipulation area consists of a data source field, vehicle description details and three residual value manipulation Tabs:
The Kestrel system is able to hold residual values from a multiplicity of data sources. This field is used to select the required data source values to be modified. Selection of the down arrow presents a drop-down list of data sources currently available to the system e.g. DHS
Displays the full vehicle variant description imported from the default data source or (in the case of Vehicles which are created manually) the description which has been entered in the Descriptions: VSB/SR field. (Details Page 1 Tab in the Model Variants menu option within the Franchise Data module).
Displays the vehicle variant code imported from the default data source or (in the case of Vehicles which are created manually) the description which has been entered in the Variant field (Model Variants menu option within the Franchise Data module). This is useful for ensuring the exact residual value table for the required vehicle variant is currently selected.
Displays the manufacturer's list price for the vehicle. This is useful for making comparisons with the data tabs below, particularly if the RV% of List Price option has been selected within the Grid Edit field in Residual Value Group Management (DP).
Every time a Residual Value Import creates or amends the values then the CREATED date is updated with today's date. (This is for both dpres and dpmnt files).
Every time a Residual Value Import creates or amends the values then the CREATED date is updated with today's date. When the data is manually amended/created then the system populates the AMENDED dates (This is for both dpres and dpmnt files).
This Tab contains the final calculated residual values and residual value percentage to be used within the quotation or ratesbook. The values are derived from the Original (Import) Values Tab plus whatever adjustments are contained within the Adjustments Tab.
The Age/Mileage Grid is determined by the values defined within the Age/Mileage Tab within System Controls.
Each column header displays the appropriate age band e.g. 12 Mths, 18 Mths, etc.
Each row header displays the appropriate mileage band e.g. 5000, 10000 miles per annum, etc.
Each cell within the grid holds an appropriate residual value and residual value percentage for each age/mileage combination. The values in this tab can be edited via the same Grid Adjustment Sub-Menu used within the Adjustments Tab.
This Tab contains any adjustments required to the Original (Import) Values.
Each column header displays the appropriate age band e.g. 12 Mths, 18 Mths, etc.
Each row header displays the appropriate mileage band e.g. 5000, 10000 miles per annum, etc.
Each cell within the grid is able to hold an appropriate value and residual value percentage for each age/mileage combination.
A single-right-click in any cell within the grid displays a small Grid Adjustment Sub-Menu that prompts selection of the following grid edit types:
- Cell Comparison(Compares values for alternative data sources)
Upon selection of a particular age/mileage cell an RV Comparison box is displayed. The top of the form confirms the age/mileage selection for the cell. For each data source imported into the system (e.g. DHS, CAP, etc) a column is displayed comparing the following residual values:
- Quote RV(The final quoted residual value - the original value plus adjustments).
- Adj(Adjustments made to data supplier original values)
- Orig RV(The original values from the data supplier)
A single-left-click of the mouse into the Quote RV or Adj columns allows the cell to be edited. The OK command button confirms the edit.
At the bottom of this form a row is displayed giving the average value for each of the above columns.
- Adjust Grid(Allows adjustments for the entire grid)
- Adjust Row(Allows adjustments for the selected row).
- Adjust Column(Allows adjustments for the selected column).
- Adjust Cell(Allows adjustments for an individual cell).
If, from the sub-menu, one of the " adjust" options is selected a Value Adjustment box is then displayed. A series of mutually exclusive option buttons determine how the adjustment is to be made. The following options are available:
- % Adjustment
Inserts into the grid a given percentage. This can be a positive or a negative value. The value is entered as a numeric (e.g. 5.25) and does not require the percentage sign to be input. This value is ultimately reflected in the Quotation Values used within the quotation or ratesbook.
- Value Adjustment
Inserts into the grid a fixed value. This can be a positive or a negative value. The value is entered as a numeric (e.g. 5.25). This value is added to or subtracted from the Original (Import) Values. This is ultimately reflected in the Quotation Values used within the quotation or ratesbook.
- Set Value
Inserts into the grid an absolute fixed value. The value is entered as a numeric (e.g. 5.25). This value is transferred to the Quotation Values Tab to be used directly within the quotation or ratesbook.
Adjustment values may also be displayed in this tab from any adjustments that are made within the Residual Value Group Management (DP) form.
Contains the original imported residual values and residual value percentage (this is a percentage of the basic price) from the default data supplier. The default residual value source is selected with the Default RV Source field within the General Tab located in System Maintenance / System Parameters.
Each cell within the grid is able to hold an appropriate residual value and residual value percentage for each age/mileage combination. The values contained in this tab cannot be edited.
