The Data Conversion/Import form is accessed via Fleet System Management / Kerridge Utilities / General Conversion and is used to carry out a Rev 6 to Rev 8 conversion.
There is an export Repgen within the Rev6 system that creates text files (in the correct order) for each of the Ring Menu options within the import routine. The system iniitalises the customer file before the import is carried out.
The form is split into three areas. These are the Titlebar, the Data Conversion Dialogue Box and the column of Initial Ring Menu at the bottom of the form.
In addition to displaying the form name the Title Bar provides a number of useful buttons.
Upon entry to the form the following warning is displayed:
Warning: A complete data restoration will be necessary in the event an error occurs during processing.
It is strongly recommended that you take a data backup before running this function.
Initial Ring Menu
The following two Ring Menu options are presented:
Exits the Data Import form and returns to the Kerridge Utilities Menu.
Displays a further Ring Menu enabling the selection of the following text files to be imported/converted:
- Address Groups
- Contracts
- Maintenance History
- Approvals
- Model Xref
- Address Groups from PL
The appropriate area for data import/conversion should be selected from the Ring Menu by way of the arrow and Return keys.
A further Ring Menu selection is presented with the prompt to Initialise Customer File before Import? The Yes or No Ring Menu option should be selected as appropriate from the Ring Menu by way of the arrow and Return keys.
Following the required selection from the Ring Menu an Import Data Path and Filename Dialogue Box is displayed. This displays the default directory path and filename from which the source text file is to be imported to the server for example, /user3/flt82QT/conv . This may be overridden if required.
