This option on the Miscellaneous options menu is only available to users with priority five or above. The groups used are defined in the Contact type groups file. Contact types are grouped together by using the group field in the contact type codes.
The contact type groups can be used to make contact analysis more manageable, individual contact type codes of a similar nature can be grouped together by a contact type group code. An example of this might be the standard letters that go out on certain anniversary dates after a vehicle sale, such as thank you for buying the vehicle, the vehicle is one year old, the vehicle is two years old, end of finance, etc.
Group code: The group code is a 2 character identifier. This can be upper or lower case or numeric.
Type: A contact group can either be a Normal group, a complaint group or a customer satisfaction survey group. Enter N for normal, C for complaint, and S for survey. These are the same codes as those used when creating a contact type code.
Description: An up to thirty-character text field to describe the group, which will assist you in selecting the group at the time of input on the contact type code.
Department: The Department code related to the associated Group.
