Add/Modify Currency Codes

This option allows to view / amend all available currency codes.

To add/modify currency codes:

  1. From the Autoline master menu select the Nominal Ledger option and the company you require.

  2. Select the Bank & currency options option.

  3. Select the Add/modify currency codes option.

    The Currency Codes & Rates form is displayed.

Currency code: Enter the currency code.

Use the button adjacent to the Currency code field, in order to view / select from all the available currencies. Alternatively click the create button on the right hand side of the form if creating a currency code for the first time.

Currency description: Enter text that describes the currency code.

Exchange rate: Enter the currency exchange rate valid to this particular currency.

PL bank control account: Enter the relevant currency bank account that will be used when performing a Currency Revaluation if there are any values available to revalue. There is a search facility, activated by depressing the ellipsis button, to view and select codes.

Currency difference control account: Enter the relevant expense account to control currency differences. There is a search facility, activated by depressing the ellipsis button, to view and select previously created codes.

Cheque Format: This will either be a specific format stationery or leave blank for standard default.

Abbreviation: A one-character code used to identify the currency code. This code is specifically used when converting from an existing Autoline revision to another Autoline revision. In any instance it cannot be left blank and must be a unique letter for each currency code created.

Rounding places: This field allows you to specify how many decimal places the currency value should be rounded to. This is a useful feature when dealing with high ratios between the domestic currency and other foreign currencies.

Gains and Losses: Gains and Losses on currency transactions may arise at either the point of settlement (i.e. cash posting) or if specifically revalued. Cash posting differences are considered to be Realized and revaluation differences are considered Unrealized. Separate expense codes may be entered here to differentiate between postings. The search is aided by using the ellipsis button.

ISO code: This field gives the Suppliers British Standards code, if any. Use the downarrow to aid the search.

EDS code: An up to three character currency code used to identify the Euro.

ISO unit: This field gives the Suppliers British Standards unit, if any.

BUTTONS

Create: Click the Create button before the completion of the relevant details of the new currency code. The copy facility can be used in conjunction with the radio buttons here.

Amend: Having selected an existing code, the Amend button may be clicked if you wish to amend a code. There is a search facility, activated by clicking the ellipsis button, to view previously created codes.

Save/Cancel: From the menu you are then prompted to Save the amendments or Cancel the amendments, by clicking the Save or Cancel button.

Delete: Having selected an existing code, the Delete button may be clicked, if you wish to delete a code. There is a search facility, activated by clicking the ellipsis button, to view previously created codes.

Multi-Lingual: By clicking this button the user can enter descriptions in several other languages.

Exit: Exits to the Bank & Currency menu.

Help: Displays online help in the default company browser.

Ad-hoc: Allows the user to run an enquiry on the currency code file.
