Maintenance of SSP service length code records

To create a SSP service length code record click the Create button and enter the service code and other fields.
SSP service length bands Tab
Service code: A number between 1 and 99. A single table must exist for any SSP addition forming Company sick pay to occur. Codes are sequenced according to the service length required before a table is applied to an employee. Example Service length on code 1 may be 2 years, service length on code 2 may be 3 years or 25 months or 750 days but not less than 2 years.
Description: A 50 character meaningful description seen when amending the codes. Example Between 1 and 2 years service.
Addition rates
Up to 5 addition rates may be defined for the payment of company sick pay.
Rate line: In a similar manner to the SSP deduction rate held on the payroll type parameters, the rate table line for which pay is to be added is defined. The main difference between the SSP deduction rate and the SSP addition rate however is that there are up to 5 different addition rates. This is to allow for different company sick pay rates to be paid such as full sick pay, half sick pay, quarter sick pay etc.
Maximum days: The maximum days field is used to determine which of the 5 pay rates are used when adding back hours into company sick pay lines. Example Your company may have a rule within a certain time such as current tax year that only 10 days sickness are paid at full pay rate followed by 16 days at half pay rate, 10 and 26 become the Maximum days for the first two bands.
HR rate code: This field is only shown if the Human resources module is installed. The field allows for a payment rate code to be defined that is used to populate the human resource calendar records when maintaining the calendar data within the Human Resources module. Example F - Full payment, H - Half payment, Q - Quarter payment.
Other fields
Days offset: Days offset is typically used when the SSP tab payroll type parameter called Addition rate adjustment type is defined as All days counted (includes NONPIW, EXCLUD and TRANSF). The number of days being added into the rate table is first reduced by the value entered in the Days offset field. Example If an employee is off for 5 days and the addition days offset is 2 then 3 days will be added to the rates table. An offset of 3 days is effectively the Payment day method since START and LINKED records are treated together, EXCLUD, TRANSF and NOTPIW records will be treated independently with the offset.
Service length type: The service length type is the type of period used to use the service code. Example Your company may have a rule that the employee only receives company sick pay after 6 months service or 1 year or 500 days. Choose from one of the following options:-
Blank: Not used
D: Days
M: Months
Y: Year
Tip : Click on the Drop down
to select.
Length of service: How many of the service periods defined in the Service length type field does the employee have to had worked for your company to receive the defined company sick payments.
