Stock Locator Extract

See also: Frequently Asked Questions for this program within Manufacturer Systems module.

The stock locator program creates an extract from a stock file, containing a list of parts held at the dealership and the quantities of those parts held in stock. It takes into account imprest stock. That extract can subsequently be used by a central parts locator facility.

To create a stock locator extract:

  1. Select the Stock Locator option from the OPERATIONS menu.

If there is more than one Stock Management company on your Autoline system, a Select Item Fro... menu is displayed, from which you must select the appropriate company.

The Parts Stock Extract form is displayed.

Note: The first time you run the Stock Locator program, a browser enables you to determine where on your computer the extract file is stored.

  2. Click the Build extract toolbar button BuildExtract.gif or select Tools > Build extract from the menu bar.

If a file with the same name as the extract to be generated already exists in the same location, a warning dialog box is displayed. In that case you should click either Move or Overwrite, as appropriate.

The extract is generated, the progress of the job being indicated by the Extract progress gauge. When it finishes, a box containing the message: File created successfully, is displayed.

  3. Click OK.

You are returned to the Parts Stock Extract form.

  4. Click the Exit toolbar button Exit.gif, or select File > Exit from the menu bar.

You are returned to the OPERATIONS menu.

Stock Locator Set-Up

Before you use the stock locator program, the Dealer code in the Parameters and controls record should be set to the dealer account number. This is normally carried out by a system administrator.
