Introduction

Volvo Vida is an electronic parts catalogue (EPC) that shows price and stock information for parts. You can also add parts to shopping lists, which you can save on the EPC server and transfer to the DMS (Dealer Management System).

This software forms the interface between Volvo Vida and Autoline. All requests for price, stock and vehicle information are launched from Vida. The Vida daemon receives the messages and writes them to a file. When the file is read and the requested information is fetched in an Autoline Point-of-Sale session, a response file is written. The Vida daemon takes that file and returns it to Vida.

In Point-of-Sale you can open the Vida session and see information about it in the EPC dialog. When the parts list is transferred from Vida to Autoline all parts in that list are put onto the active WIP and the EPC dialog is closed.

If no Point-of-Sale session is active, Vida communicates only with the daemon. If a parts list is received is it written to the DATALIB$/MS/VO/xfer/VIDA directory. These files can be picked up and imported to a Point-of-Sale session at any point of time later. The files are purged after the number of days specified in the parameters.

Note: This documentation assumes you are familiar with standard, Point-of-Sale functionality.

Set-up

Before you can use Volvo Vida, you must ensure that the system is set up correctly. This is normally carried out by, or on advice from, a consultant.
