Introduction

With the increasing number of configurations possible for a Volvo vehicle, it has become particularly important to accurately identify the exact technical specification of the vehicle being repaired. It is no longer just enough to know the model and engine size.

To aid in the process, Volvo supply the VIN, registration number and VSTG variant code for all Volvo vehicles sold in the UK since 1988.

The data is uploaded to the Autoline system and an analysis is performed to identify matches between the data from Volvo and marketing vehicle records on the dealer's system. An update is then carried out to enter the VIN, service variant code and model year onto vehicle records where necessary.

Set-up

In order for Volvo vehicles to be identified on the Autoline system it is important that the parameters are set up correctly. This is normally carried out by, or on advice from, a consultant.
