Generic Validation

This form sets forms within the UVS-In Interface to mandatory or advisable. If fields are set to mandatory, when records are sent for a Plausibility check, they will fail if information is not entered into the field. If information is not entered into advisable fields, you will be warned that you should enter information.

Generic Validation (Mandatory/Advisable) Form

Menu Bar and Action:

File > Exit Returns you to the UVS-In interface without saving any changes.

Amend > Add MandatoryAdvisable flag Sets the current line to mandatory or advisable.
Amend > Edit this line Edits a flag on the current record. (Lines must have had a mandatory/advisable flag set up).
Amend > Delete this line Deletes the current record. (Lines must have had a mandatory/advisable flag set up).

Tools > Tools No functionality

Help > Help Displays this help topic in your default web browser.

VSB export to UVS-In:

You can expand or collapse the tree elements to see more or fewer subentries. A plus sign (+) next to an element indicates that you can expand it to show more subentries. A minus sign (-) indicates that you can collapse it.

Additionally, access permissions, called priorities, determine whether a particular element is displayed. Each element is assigned a priority when the program is installed. Your administrator assigns each user a priority. Any element whose priority is higher than your own is omitted from the tree. If you think you need access to an element described in this help but it does not appear in the actual tree, check with your administrator.

Because every installation of the system is uniquely configured, your installation might not include all the elements in this list.

Setting fields to mandatory or advisable

Note: Fields that have a mandatory/advisable flag appear in bold on the list. Fields that are not bold have not been flagged.

You can set the fields to be mandatory or advisable in the UVS-In Interface.

To set mandatory or advisable fields:

  1. Click Manufacturer Systems > Menu - Sales > Menu - UVS-In > Set mandatory/advisable fields.

    The Generic Validation (Mandatory/Advisable) form is displayed.

  2. Click the plus sign (+) to the left of VSB export to UVS-In.

    The list of fields within UVS-In will be displayed.

  3. Select the row on the list that you want to set as mandatory or advisable and click Amend > Add mandatory/advisable flag on the menu bar or Add mandatory/advisable flag on the toolbar.

    The MandatoryAdvisory flag dialog box is displayed.

  4. Select either Field is mandatory or Field is advisable and click OK.

    The field will change to bold and a grid will be displayed in the Validation grid with details of the flag that has been set for that field.

Editing mandatory or advisable flags

Note: Fields that have a mandatory/advisable flag appear in bold on the list. Fields that are not bold have not been flagged. Fields must have had a flag set before they can be edited.

To edit mandatory or advisable fields:

  1. Click Manufacturer Systems > Menu - Sales > Menu - UVS-In > Set mandatory/advisable fields.

    The Generic Validation (Mandatory/Advisable) form is displayed.

  2. Click the plus sign (+) to the left of VSB export to UVS-In.

    The list of fields within UVS-In will be displayed.

  3. Select the row on the list that you want to edit, click on the line in the Validation grid and click Amend > Edit this line on the menu bar or Edit this line on the toolbar.

    The MandatoryAdvisory flag dialog box is displayed.

  4. Select either Field is mandatory or Field is advisable and click OK.

    The field will change and the grid will display the changed flag.

Deleting flags from records

Note: Fields that have a mandatory/advisable flag appear in bold on the list. Fields that are not bold have not been flagged. Fields must have had a flag set before it can be deleted.

To delete mandatory or advisable fields:

  1. Click Manufacturer Systems > Menu - Sales > Menu - UVS-In > Set mandatory/advisable fields.

    The Generic Validation (Mandatory/Advisable) form is displayed.

  2. Click the plus sign (+) to the left of VSB export to UVS-In.

    The list of fields within UVS-In will be displayed.

  3. Select the row on the list that has the flag you want to delete, click on the line in the Validation grid and click Amend > Delete this line on the menu bar or Delete this line on the toolbar.

    A confirmation message box is displayed.

  4. Click OK to confirm deletion of this flag.

    The flag will be deleted.

    Note: Only the flag is deleted. The line itself will not be deleted.
