The David Henley Update Utilities form is displayed when you select FRANCHISE DATA > Data import > David Henley > David Henley update utilities.
The update form contains option (radio) buttons and check boxes for you to select as required. When you click OK the chosen processes validate, import and convert David Henley franchise data. After each program has run you are returned to the David Henley Update Utilities form.
Please select an action:
Import and convert: Retrieves data from a diskette supplied by David Henley and places it onto the Autoline server in the Franchise data Import directory set in Franchise Data System Parameters.
Tip: Using the Import and convert option button initialises and completes the process by converting the David Henley Data and update files.
Note: The Import and convert routines only work for a diskette. If the data has been mailed, the data supplied should be stored in the Franchise data Import directory in Franchise Data System Parameters. Then David Henley Data should be converted.
Convert David Henley data: This converts the raw David Henley data, imported previously, into data that can be updated into Autoline files. The Update files option should now be run.
Update files: This program uses the converted David Henley data to update the relevant Autoline files.
FTP Import and convert: Imports and converts data directly from David Henley's server.
Note: FTP connections are created in the Generic file transfers program. They have to contain the server details and the file types that being imported. For example DAVIDHENLEY represents the full data import and should contain the extension .001 in the Autoline filename path. DAVIDHENLEYINC should contain the extension .INC used for incremental updates.
Validate: Validates Henley-vs-Variant (produces a report of David Henley vehicle codes which are not referenced in the Autoline Franchise Data file) or Variant-vs-Henley (produces a report of Autoline Franchise Data variants which refer to price book codes not on the David Henley file).
This option should be run both ways. Firstly to obtain a list of variants which are required on the Autoline system (with the exception of the price book code, not too much attention needs to be paid to the data entered). Secondly to ensure that you are aware of any variants in the Autoline database that are not cross-referenced to David Henley codes (old models and so on). A dialogue box enables you to select your franchise or franchises. Select the appropriate franchises and click OK.
Note: For existing users running their first David Henley update, the first report displays a full list of David Henley codes with which to update Autoline Franchise Data variants.
Check diskette: If a diskette is used to import the data this program checks the authenticity of the David Henley diskette in the diskette drive of your PC.
Backup files before update: Tick this check box if you want a backup of the current variant files to be saved to the Autoline server before any updates and conversions take place.
Incremental Update?: Leave this check box ticked if the additional data sets for technical data are required in the import.
Show any errors as they are found: This check box is ticked by default each time the form is displayed. Any errors found are displayed during the process. If the check box is not ticked no errors are reported.
Output errors to log file: This check box is ticked by default each time the form is displayed. Any errors found are reported. To display the report, click the View log button.
