TECHNICAL DETAILS

Overview

Accessed via Contract Review, selection of the Vehicle Tab and a single-left-click on the TD column within the Specification Grid.

This sub-form enables any technical details for the vehicle specification or individual specification item to be created or viewed. This process is largely utilised for commercial vehicles or for cars that have complicated specification items. The tables from which the technical details are constructed are created and reside in the Miscellaneous Options Menu within Fleet System Management.

The Authorisation form is now displayed. This form is split into five parts that are as follows:

Title Bar

In addition to displaying the form name the Title Bar provides a number of other useful identification criteria and buttons.

Menu Bar

The content of the Technical Details form menu bar is dependent upon the particular process that is being accessed. The full menu bar contents, however, are as follows:

Save

Saves any technical details data that has been entered into the form.

Delete

Deletes the currently selected Technical Details.

Exit

Cancels any data that has been entered into the Technical details form and returns to the Spec Tab.

Provides online access to a context sensitive Helpform.

Toolbar

As with the menu bar, the content of the Technical Details form toolbar is dependent upon the particular process that is being accessed. The full toolbar contents, however, are as follows:

Saves any technical details data that has been entered into the form.

Deletes the currently selected Technical Details.

Cancels any data that has been entered into the Technical details form and returns to the Spec Tab.

Provides online access to a context sensitive Help form.

Technical Details Dialogue Box

There are two Tabs. The Technical Tab largely holds the contract details and the Dimensions Tab which holds the material and dimension details for the specification items.

There are two fields contained within the form header that are as follows:

The unique sequential vehicle record number automatically generated by the system.

The vspec sequence number generated for each vehicle option. The number sequence starts at 2 (with 1 belonging to the vehicle itself).

Technical Tab

Displays the following details:

The expiry date of the warranty on the vehicle or vehicle specification item. This is particularly usefule for commercial vehicles or for cars that have complicated specification items.

A free-format field for entry of a description of the type of warranty that is taken out on the vehicle or specification item.

The serial number of the vehicle or specification item.

A free-format area for entry of comments from the supplier relating to the vehicle or specification item.

The third party contractor with whom the maintenance contract has been taken out on the vehicle or vehicle specification item. This is particularly useful for commercial vehicles or for cars that have complicated specification items.

The address group of the third party maintenance contractor.

Enter the Customer Address Group (e.g. Bristol Garages) directly or select the ellipsis (...) button immediately to the right of this field to initiate a search. A single-left-click of the ellipsis button displays an Address Group Search form that enables selection from the current available address groups. The cursor is located in the search field. Key part or all of the required address group code (uppercase characters are required) and select the Search command button. Address Groups matching the entered criteria are displayed and, having selected the required group by highlighting with the mouse, the OK command button is used to confirm and returns the appropriate values to the Dimensions Tab. The Technical Material Codes table is initially setup within Fleet System Management / Miscellaneous Options / Material Codes.

The third party maintenance supplier's contract number for the vehicle or specification item.

A free-format field to describe the level of cover provided by the third party maintenance contractor.

The contract start date for the vehicle or specification item.

The contract end date on the third party maintenance contract taken out on the vehicle or vehicle specification item.

The monthly cost of the third party maintenance contract taken out on the vehicle or vehicle specification item.

Where applicable, the contracted odometer usage for the vehicle or specification item.

There are a number of odometer types that may be applicable to a vehicle or specification item that measure various usage types. The down-arrow-button to the right of the field displays a list of available types:

  • Miles
  • Kilometres
  • Hours
  • Cycles
  • Rotations

The excess rate to be charged for excess distance/usage over the Contracted Odometer usage.

The date on which the most current odometer reading is taken.

The start odometer reading on the maintenance contract for the vehicle or specification item (For the first odometer on the contracted vehicle or specification item).

The end odometer reading on the maintenance contract for the vehicle or specification item (For the first odometer on the contracted vehicle or specification item).

The current odometer reading for the vehicle or specification item (For the first odometer on the contracted vehicle or specification item). This may be manually updated or updated via an import process.

The start odometer reading on the maintenance contract for the vehicle or specification item (For the second odometer on the contracted vehicle or specification item).

The end odometer reading on the maintenance contract for the vehicle or specification item (For the second odometer on the contracted vehicle or specification item).

The current odometer reading for the vehicle or specification item (For the second odometer on the contracted vehicle or specification item). This may be manually updated or updated via an import process.

Dimensions Tab

Displays the following details:

Displays the full manufacturer description for the vehicle or specification item. An ellipsis button (...) immediately to the right of this field....

Displays the full model description for the vehicle or specification item. An ellipsis button (...) immediately to the right of this field....

The full warranty period for the vehicle or specification item.

The date when the technical specification item is expected in stock.

The specific area to which the technical details relate e.g. Body, Chassis, Crane, Tail Lift, etc.

Selection of the ellipsis button (...) immediately to the right of this field displays a Technical Type Codes List Box displaying all of the currently available codes/descriptions. The required type should be highlighted and the OK command button used to confirm this choice. This returns the appropriate values to the Dimensions Tab. The Technical Record Type table is initially setup within Fleet System Management / Miscellaneous Options / Record Types - Technical.

The material from which the selected specification item is made.

Selection of the ellipsis button (...) immediately to the right of this field displays an Technical Materials Codes List Box displaying all of the currently available codes/descriptions. The required material should be highlighted and the OK command button used to confirm this choice. This returns the appropriate values to the Dimensions Tab. The Technical Material Codes table is initially setup within Fleet System Management / Miscellaneous Options / Material Codes.

The inner lining associated with the selected specification item.

Selection of the ellipsis button (...) immediately to the right of this field displays an Technical Lining Codes List Box displaying all of the currently available codes/descriptions. The required lining type should be highlighted and the OK command button used to confirm this choice. This returns the appropriate values to the Dimensions Tab. The Technical Lining Codes table is initially setup within Fleet System Management / Miscellaneous Options / Lining Codes.

The roof type or material associated with the selected specification item.

Selection of the ellipsis button (...) immediately to the right of this field displays an Technical Roof Codes List Box displaying all of the currently available codes/descriptions. The required roof type should be highlighted and the OK command button used to confirm this choice. This returns the appropriate values to the Dimensions Tab. The Technical Roof Codes table is initially setup with Fleet System Management / Miscellaneous Options / Roof Codes.

The progress code enabling the current status of the selected specification item to be tracked e.g. Delayed, Painters, etc.

Selection of the ellipsis button (...) immediately to the right of this field displays an Technical Progress Codes List Box displaying all of the currently available codes/descriptions. The required progress code should be highlighted and the OK command button used to confirm this choice. This returns the appropriate values to the Dimensions Tab. The Technical Progress Codes table is initially setup within Fleet System Management / Miscellaneous Options / Progress Codes.

Up to four line of thirty characters each are provided for holding technical notes against the selected specification item.

The outer height dimension of the selected specification item.

The outer width dimension of the selected specification item.

The outer depth (i.e. length) dimension of the selected specification item.

The inner height dimension of the selected specification item.

The inner width dimension of the selected specification item.

The inner depth (i.e. length) dimension of the selected specification item.

The maximum weight the vehicle or specification item may carry.

The maximum holding area the vehicle or specification item allows.

The maximum output of the vehicle or specification item e.g. horsepower.

The maximum reach of the vehicle or specification item allows e.g. a crane
