WIP LOG

Overview

Accessed by way of the Contract Review form followed by selection of either WIP Log from the View Menuor the wiplog.gif icon from the Toolbar. This presents the WIP Log form which displays the current jobs (Work In Progress) within Point of Sale and allows the details to be reviewed.

The Workshop Transfer routine within Maintenance Control transfers job lines from the hire company's own workshop (from Point of Sale) across to the Fleet Maintenance Control system, cross-referencing RTS codes and creates an approval. These WIP jobs may be reviewed here.

This form is split into four parts that are as follows:

Title Bar

In addition to displaying the form name the Title Bar provides a number of other useful identification criteria and buttons.

Menu Bar

The content of the WIP Log menu bar is as follows:

Exit

Exits to the Contract Review form.

Provides online access to a context sensitive Help form.

Toolbar

The content of the WIP Log toolbar is as follows:

Exits to the Contract Review form.

Provides online access to a context sensitive Help form.

WIP Log Dialogue Box

The WIP Log Dialogue Box contains several data fields and a WIP Log Grid for displaying individual WIP items applicable to the current contract under review.

The registration number of the vehicle.

The full vehicle variant description.

The fields contained within the WIP Log Grid are as follows:

Displays the company identifier code (e.g. 73) to which the currently selected contract belongs.

A five digit system generated sequential number for the WIP record e.g. 10038. This is not unique; the system cycles round on five digits and some bigger systems may have repeated numbers.

The VMRS (Vehicle Maintenance Repair Standards) Code (e.g. S27). These codes are set-up via Miscellaneous Options / Maintenance Codes Menu / VMRS Codes and are subsequently used to identify maintenance operations. Analysis of these codes is particularly important for commercial vehicles and may assist in identifying vehicle manufacturers/models which should be withdrawn from the fleet or have David Henley maintenance values adjusted.

The full description explaining the associated VRMS code e.g. Carry out 27,000 Mile Service.

A single-left-click of the mouse on any row within the grid presents a WIP Details form for review of any selected POS job record.
