The Reasons for Repair Codes set-up form is accessed via Miscellaneous Options / Maintenance Codes Menu / Reasons for Repair and is used to create, edit and delete reasons for repair codes which are used when creating approvals within Maintenance Control and also for analysis purposes.
The form is split into three areas. These are the Titlebar, the Reasons for Repair Codes Dialogue Box and the column of Command Buttons down the right-hand side of the form.
In addition to displaying the form name the Title Bar provides a number of useful buttons.
To create a new reasons for repair code type select the CreateCommand Button.
To view or amend an existing reasons for repair code type use the following procedure:
The cursor is located in the Reason Code field prompting selection of a reason code/description for the purposes of editing an existing record. A single-left-click of the ellipsis button to the right of this field displays a Reason Code search form that enables selection from the current available reason for repair codes. The cursor is located in the search field. Key part or all of the required repair code and select the Repair Code command button. Repair codes matching the entered criteria are displayed and, having selected the required code by highlighting with the mouse, the OK command button is used to confirm this selection and return to the Reasons for Repair form.
Displays a number of details relating to the selected reason for repair which are as follows:
- Description
Displays a free-format meaningful textual description for the selected Reasons for Repair type e.g. Replace Rear Brake Pads
The analysis code relating to the current reason for repair code. A single-left-click of the ellipsis button to the right of this field displays an Analysis Code List Box that enables selection from the current available codes. Having selected the required code by highlighting with the mouse, the OK command button is used to confirm this selection and return to the Reasons for Repair form.
The operation code relating to the current reason for repair code. A single-left-click of the ellipsis button to the right of this field displays an Operation Code List Box that enables selection from the current available codes. Having selected the required code by highlighting with the mouse, the OK command button is used to confirm this selection and return to the Reasons for Repair form.
- RTS Code
The RTS (Repair Time Schedule) code relating to the current reason for repair code. The RTS code identifies the time taken, units allowed, mechanic experienced to carry out task, etc. Normally the reason code is the same as the RTS code. When creating an approval the Reason for Repair code displays the RTS Description via the link created in this file.
A single-left-click of the ellipsis button to the right of this field displays a RTS Codes search form that enables selection from the current available RTS codes. The cursor is located in the search field. Key part or all of the required RTS code and select the RTS Code command button. RTS codes matching the entered criteria are displayed and, having selected the required code by highlighting with the mouse, the OK command button is used to confirm this selection and return to the Reasons for Repair form.
- Service Item
A checkbox which, if ticked, denotes that the Reason For Repair code selected is related to servicing of the vehicle.
- Maintbook Cost Field
The drop-down-arrow to the right of this field displays a lookup of the mntbook file. This file displays the content of the MAINTBOOK upload data file (TMDData.csv or LCVTMDData.csv) that allows the parts cost to be held against the associated Reason For Repair code.
- Maintbook Lab Field
The drop-down-arrow to the right of this field displays a lookup of the mntbook file. This file displays the content of the MAINTBOOK upload data file (TMDData.csv or LCVTMDData.csv) that allows the labour cost to be held against the associated Reason For Repair code.
A number of command buttons are available. Some buttons are context sensitive and are greyed-out and only become available dependent upon the particular process that is being accessed. The full list of command buttons is as follows:
Exits the Reasons for Repair form and returns to the Maintenance Codes Menu.
Provides online access to a context sensitive Help form.
Enables the creation of an additional Reasons for Repair. Mutually exclusive option buttons allow this to be done in one of the two following ways:
- Blank
Used if a new Reasons For Repair code is to be set-up without utilising existing criteria.
- Copy
Copies the values within an existing "nearest match" Reasons for Repair code so that only required values need be edited.
Provides the facility for editing the set-up options of the current Reasons for Repair record. No edits can be made to a record until the Amend button has been selected.
Deletes the currently selected Reasons for Repair code record.
On first accessing the Reasons for Repair form this command button is greyed-out. Following selection of the Amend button the Confirm option then becomes available to enable any edits to be confirmed.
On first accessing the Reasons for Repair form this command button is greyed-out. Following selection of the Amend button the Cancel option then becomes available to enable any edits to be cancelled.
This is not a command button. This box is a way of displaying messages with regard to the status of the current record e.g. "Record Secured OK"
Selection of this button displays a further form that provides an Ad-hoc Report Generator for the creation of quick query reports to form.
Selection of this button displays a further form that provides an itemised display of all the selection criteria for the current Reasons for Repair code record.
