The Used vehicle defaults form is displayed when the Used vehicle defaults option is selected from the VS SYSTEM MAINTENANCE MENU.
If one of the default forms is selected you will be able to proceed through the available fields on the screen, entering default values where required. There is no validation of input on the default record and therefore, will not actually provide a list of valid codes.
This point raises the question of the philosophy behind default values. If for example a dealership has only one branch within a Vehicle Stockbook 'company' then it would be sensible to default on to the purchase brief, the buying location, and on the sales brief the selling location, as it can only ever be one value.
If however a default is only true in the majority of circumstances, say 90% of the time, and it is important that it be corrected to the alternative values in the 10% where it is not the default value, it may be better to leave the default as blank in order that the operator is forced to think about which code to enter.
