This option allows you to invoke diagnosis when there are problems with the post code daemon. If there is a problem with the post code daemon you will probably notice it first in the customer record when trying to create a new records. Difficulties often manifest themselves when you either do not get the post code search box or when you are searching for a post code the screen hangs.
Note:If you are still experiencing problems after preforming the tests available in this option it will be necessary to log a software support call
When the option has been selected from the The Miscellaneous Options Menu you will be taken in to a screen that simply offers four options from a ring menu. These are :-
Exit: This will return you to the CRM miscellaneous options menu
Close-daemon Selecting this will stop the post code daemon. After taking this option the options from the ring menu will change you will then have the options to Start Deamon and Say hello
Say hello: This option allows you to signal the daemon with out doing a postcode search. When you select this the word hello will appear on the screen after a few seconds to confirm that the daemon is running. To return to the main ring menu after preforming this test select Continue.
Search postcode: this option allows you to test the daemon by preforming an actual postcode search and will only be available when the daemon is running. When this option is selected you will be presented with a window titled search for a postcode, this works in exactly the same way as it does when you are creating a new customer record. Simply enter a postcode and press return. If the postcode is found in the postcode data base you will offered the property numbers and names in that area, when you have selected one the system will default the selected address into the address field. To return to the main ring menu select Continue.
Start Daemon: This option allows you to start the post code daemon and will only be available if the post code daemon is not already running. Once you have used this option the start daemon option should be relaced by a close daemon option. You should test the daemon before leaving this option.
