Model Codes

Note: This help system contains standard information, some of which might not apply to your franchise. There might be a help file specific to your Autoline configuration. It could be either in the help system specific to your manufacturer, or displayed when you click the Help button on the relevant form or menu.

See also Deleting a Model Code Record.

Vehicle model codes identify a vehicle on a Point-of-Sale WIP record so that the allowed time for that labour operation on that model is available for the work to be accurately costed.

The Create Model form enables you to create a model code record.

Creating a Model Code Record

To create a model code record:

  1. Click Models on the Labour codes/times maintenance form.

    The Models form is displayed.

  2. Click Create.

The Create Model form is displayed.

  3. Enter the new Model code and Description, and do one of the following:

    1. If you want the new model code record to have a new identity linking labour times with labour codes, select the New slot option button and, if you know of a model from which you can copy labour times, specify it in the Copy times from selection box, then click OK.

    2. If you do not want the new model code record to have a new identity linking labour times with labour codes, select the Share times with option button and specify the model whose labour times the new model is to use in the Share times with selection box, then click OK.

If the New slot option button is selected but you have not entered a model in the Copy times from selection box, you are prompted to do so.

The new model code record is created and you are returned to the labour codes/times maintenance form in the same state as it was when you displayed the Models form.

Create Model Form

This form is displayed when you click Create on the Models form. It enables you to create a model code record.

Model: Service model code group in the CRM/Marketing vehicle record

Description: Service model code group (make and model)

Copy times from: Model code from which to copy labour times when creating the new model record (displayed only if the New slot option button is selected)

Note: The two selection boxes Copy times from and Share times with should not be confused. The Share times with selection box is displayed closer to the bottom of the form.

Share times with: Model code whose labour times are to be used by the new model record (displayed only if the Share times with option button is selected)

OPTION (RADIO) BUTTONS:

New slot: Creates a new identity linking a labour time with a labour code. (The time slot can be shared by more than one model if the repair times are the same across the model groups.)

Note: The New slot number is automatically generated and it is displayed in a box to the right of that option button. The box appears only when the option button is selected.

Share times with: Causes the new model record to use labour times in an existing model code record
