Maintaining Labour Codes

Note: This help system contains standard information, some of which might not apply to your franchise. There might be a help file specific to your Autoline configuration. It could be either in the help system specific to your manufacturer, or displayed when you click the Help button on the relevant form or menu.

The labour codes/times maintenance form (its exact title depends on your system configuration) enables you to create and amend labour time codes.

What do you want to do?

Labour Codes/Times Maintenance Form

Note: The exact title of this form depends on your system configuration.

This form is displayed when you select the Labour times maintenance option from the Labour Code menu. It enables you to view levels and labour codes and it provides access to facilities to amend them. (The Labour times maintenance option might be worded differently, Labour code maintenance for example, depending on your Autoline configuration.)

TABS:

CHECK BOX:

In level: If this check box is selected, the Search button populates the Times grid with labour codes belonging to the selected Levels grid row. If it is cleared, the Search button populates the Times grid with all labour codes in the labour times file.

Note: When you click Search, the contents of the Times grid depend on whether the Show times for option button or the Show codes only option button on the Filter tab is selected. Additionally, if the Show codes only option button is selected, search results depend on whether the In level check box is selected.

Labour code: Identifies the category of work

OPTION BUTTONS:

Show times for --> If this is selected when you click Search, results displayed in the Times grid are limited to a specific Model (or all models) and the Times grid has the columns Model, labour code, Description, and Time.

Show codes only: If this is selected when you click Search, results displayed in the Times grid are limited to Labour code and Description and the Times grid has only those two columns.

CHECK BOX:

Unused codes only: If this check box is selected, the Times grid displays only labour codes not used by any vehicle model. (Enabled only when the Show codes only option button is selected.)

Browsing to a Level

This process is the first stage common to most procedures you use to maintain labour time codes.

To browse to a level:

  1. Select the Manufacturer systems Module and the appropriate Company from the Autoline Master menu.

    The Operations menu is displayed.

  2. Select the Labour code menu option.

Note: The Labour code menu option might be differently worded in your system. LTS code menu is a typical alternative.

The Labour Code menu is displayed.

  3. Select the Labour times maintenance option. (It might be worded differently, Labour code maintenance for example, depending on your Autoline configuration.)

The labour codes/times maintenance form is displayed and the top-most level populates the Levels grid.

  4. If you want to select a sub-level, double-click the Levels grid row that is its parent or click the Down Level button with that grid row selected.

    One of two things happens:

    1. If you double-clicked any level other than a component (the level immediately above labour codes), the constituent sub-levels of that parent level populate the Levels grid.

    2. If you double-clicked a component (the level immediately above labour codes), the constituent labour codes of that component populate the Times grid while the Levels grid remains unchanged.

Deleting a Level

To delete a level:

  1. On the labour codes/times maintenance form, Browse to the level you want to delete, right-click the Levels grid row to be deleted, and select Delete from the shortcut menu.

A Delete this level? dialog box displays the following message:

Warning: Do you want to permanently delete this level [level code] and all levels, codes and times contained within it?

  2. Click Yes.

The selected level, including its contained sub-levels and labour codes, is deleted and you are returned to the labour codes/times maintenance form with the deleted row removed from the Levels grid.

Finding a Labour Code Using Filtered Search

The Filter tab on the labour codes/times maintenance form provides several ways of finding a labour code record.

To find a labour code using filtered search, do one or more of the following:

  1. If you want to find a specific labour code (or you know one or more of its initial characters), type it into the Labour code box and click Search.

The Times grid is populated with the labour code records you specified or, where you typed only the initial part of the labour code, it is populated with all labour codes whose initial characters match those you typed.

  2. If you want to find all labour code records whose descriptions contain a particular word or sequence of words, type that text into the Description box and click Search.

The Times grid is populated with labour code records whose Description fields contain the word or words you typed.

  3. If you want to find all labour code records with a particular labour time, type it into the Operation time box as hours and a decimal fraction of an hour (for example, 0.5 for half an hour) and click Search.

The Times grid is populated with labour code records whose Operation time fields match the labour time you typed.

  4. If you want to find all labour code records applicable to a particular vehicle model, select the Show times for option button and select the vehicle model from the Model drop-down list and click Search.

The Times grid is populated with labour code records applicable to the selected vehicle model.

However, if you cannot easily identify the model you want in the Model drop-down list, follow the procedure Finding a Model Code Record. That procedure returns you to the labour codes/times maintenance form with the Show times for option button on the Filter tab automatically selected and your selected model in the Model box.

Note: You can combine all filter criteria except Show items for and Show codes only, which are mutually exclusive.
