VSB Menu Mapping

VSB menu mapping is only available on Rev.83 systems, if required by your manufacturer. The mapping is referenced by the Vehicle preparation option on the Links menu in Point-of-Sale, which is used to display a list of jobs for a vehicle. This list might include a menu pricing option or pre-defined menus for a specific operation, such as a menu for fitting mats or carrying out a pre-delivery inspection.

By specifying the VSB menu price code used by the franchise for menu pricing, you can trigger a search of menu pricing in Point-of-Sale when the menu pricing option is selected. In order to trigger a search of menu pricing, you must first create a dealer fitted option via the Franchise Data Build specifications option, with a Menu price code of XX_MENUS, where XX is the 2-character franchise ID. When you create this option, a line is automatically created in the vehicle specification in Vehicle Stockbooks. Here in VSB menu mapping, you must also enter the VSB menu price code in the VSB search menu trigger field. When the menu pricing option is subsequently selected via the Vehicle preparation option in Point-of-Sale, the menu price code held against the vehicle specification is verified against the VSB search menu tri gger in VSB menu mapping, and a search of menu pricing is invoked. This has the same effect as entering the 2-character franchise ID and asterisk (*) on the WIP.

Tip: To access the Menu price code field via the Franchise Data Build specifications option in Rev.83, select the required Level and, in Edit mode, right-click the grid on the Franchise Specification, Model Specification or Variant Specification tab. To edit an existing option, right-click the mouse and select the Edit this option command from the shortcut menu or, to create a new option, right-click the mouse and select the New option at this level... command. The Menu price code field is displayed on the Details tab of the Level Option form.

Alternatively, you can create VSB mapping for existing pre-defined menus. This is simply a way of giving an alternative user-friendly name to an existing menu. For example, you might have the following menu for fitting a baby seat:

Menu code: 200323004-123
Model code: 0024

This is difficult to remember, so the VSB menu mapping creates an easy way of adding franchise-specific menus onto the VSPEC line without the VSB operator having to know complicated menu codes. For example, you can set up the baby seat in the following way with VSB menu mapping:

VSB menu code: XX_BABYSEAT (where XX is the 2-character franchise-ID)
Menu code: 200323004-123
Model code: 0024

Instead of typing the menu code in Franchise Data, you simply type in the alternative user-friendly version.

To set up VSB menu mapping:

  1. From the OPERATIONS menu, select the Menu pricing menu option.

The Menu Pricing Maintenance menu is displayed.

  2. Select the Menu Pricing setup option.

If there is more than one Point-of-Sale (SO) company, the system prompts you for the SO company.

  3. Select the SO company.

The Service Menu Pricing Setup form is displayed.

  4. Display the VSB menu mapping tab.

  5. Do one of the following:

    1. To trigger a search of menu pricing in Point-of-Sale, enter the menu price code that the franchise uses for menu pricing in the VSB search menu trigger field.

Tip: This field references the Search menu pricing trigger on the Point of Sale tab of the Parameters. Click the Change button edit this parameter.

    2. To create mapping for a pre-defined menu, position the cursor over the grid in the Pre-defined VSB menus group box and right-click the mouse. Select the Create option from the shortcut menu, and complete the VSB Menu Mapping form.
