Communication Parameters

The communication parameters hold the information required for the collection of data from the BCM PC. There must be an entry made for each Autoline company (Ford only) on the Autoline server.

What do you want to do?

Creating a New Communication Parameters Record

  1. Click FORD OPERATIONS menu > Ford BCM communication.

The Ford BCM communication menu is displayed.

  2. Click Communication parameters.

The Ford CDS Communication Parameters form is displayed.

  3. Click New and select the required Purchase Control company.

Note: The list of available Purchase Control companies will consist only of companies where BCM records do not already exist. If the company you require is not listed, click Cancel followed by Open. If the required company is still not listed, then it is not a valid purchase control company

Complete the form and click Save. The new communication parameters record is created.

Opening an Existing Communication Parameters Record

  1. Click FORD OPERATIONS menu > Ford BCM communication.

The Ford BCM communication menu is displayed.

  2. Click Communication parameters.

The Ford CDS Communication Parameters form is displayed.

  3. Click Open and select the required Purchase Control company.

Note: If the company you require is not listed, that record does not exist. Click Cancel followed by New to create a new record for the company. If the required company is still not listed, then it is not a valid purchase control company

Amend the form as necessary and click Save

Ford CDS Communication Parameters Form

This form is displayed when you click Ford BCM communication menu > Communication parameters. It enables you to check, amend or add to communication parameters records for Ford Autoline companies.

Note: When this form is first displayed, the record for the company you selected at the start is displayed as a default. If you want to edit this record, you must open the record first.

Company number: Number of the selected Purchase Control company

Communication type: Ford BCM server for the selected Purchase Control company

Local directory: Location for CDS files for this company, for example user1/fran/FO/data/CDSFiles

Use 14 digits labour item code: Select this check-box if the standard LON 11 code is used in Point-of-Sale

For each file that needs to be processed a file routing should be created. The form enables you to specify up to 40 file routings by using the four tabs as required:

Remote Directory: Directory on the BCM server

Remote File(s): Name of remote file (or asterisk * for more files in the remote directory)

Local File(s): Name of local file (or asterisk * for more files in the local directory)

Process Trigger: Daemon data parameter three (BCM module) corresponds to the process triggers in the CDS parameters. However, some triggers are too long for the daemon field, so mapping has been included in the program to handle this. The daemon parameters should be used as follows:

Process trigger Daemon parameter 3
