Generating and Transmitting a Parts Locator File

The Parts locator software generates a list of parts that meet a set of standards. These standards are intended to distinguish slow moving and obsolete parts within the inventory which are analyzed by General Motors. The software allows you to do this by searching for a specific part or optionally to view a list of the entire inventory.

Note: To uphold the accuracy of the data produced, you must generate a parts locator file weekly.

To generate and transmit a parts locator file:

Note: Before you generate a file, ensure that the diskette is in the A: drive.

  1. From the GENERAL MOTORS OPERATIONS menu, select the Parts locator option.

    The Parts Locator form is displayed.

  2. Select the appropriate radio button and click the Generate button.

    Note: The Parts locator option must be selected at all times unless advised otherwise.

    A dialog box is invoked, displaying the following message:

    Transmit Parts Locator file to DCS host?

    Transmit or Abort

  3. Click the Transmit button.

    A message is displayed after a short period of time stating whether the transmission is successful.

  4. Send the parts locator file to Vauxhall via your preferred method.
