Some of the vehicle details returned from the GM CIS web service can be used to update Marketing vehicle records. A web service (sometimes referred to as an application service) is effectively a daemon (listener) that runs on a web server and accepts incoming requests and returns an appropriate response. Messages are sent in XML format and can be encrypted in various ways such as Stunnel or OpenSSL.
Currently the following fields can be updated:
To update a Marketing vehicle record:
When a vehicle that is the subject of an outstanding recall campaign is loaded onto a WIP on the main Service Point-of-Sale form by clicking OK on the Other Jobs Exist form, the Campaign Information Systems form is displayed with any outstanding campaign details shown. Click the Load column on the relevant Campaign number line.
A tick is displayed in the Load column.
Click OK to load the selected campaign.
The GM CIS Vehicle Update form is displayed.
This form is displayed when you load a vehicle that is the subject of an outstanding recall campaign onto a WIP. It enables you to correct or update some of the vehicle details.
Grid:
Field name: Name of a field that can be corrected or updated (currently Model year, Colour code and Trim code).
Current value: Value of the field on the MK vehicle record (blank if the field is empty).
New value: New value brought back from the GM CIS web service.
Update: If this column is ticked, the corresponding field is updated when you click OK.
Buttons:
Select all: Ticks the Update column for all fields, marking them for updating.
Select none: Removes any ticks in the Update column for all fields, marking them as not to be updated.
OK: Performs the update on the ticked fields.
