The Search for Model - [Manufacturer] - form enables you to find a vehicle model code and, in particular, to add labour to a WIP when you know the labour code.
This form is displayed when you set the franchise in the New product group on the Service Point-of-Sale form to the required manufacturer; type the labour code preceded by a hash # in the left-hand New product box, and press TAB. It is also displayed in other circumstances where the model code is not known. It enables you to find a vehicle model code.
Model group
: Whether or not this drop-down is displayed depends on how the system is set up for your franchise. It lets you filter the list displayed in the grid of this form. This gives you an extra level of vehicle selection in Point of Sale over and above the standard level of vehicle models. It helps you search a big list of model codes, particularly where there is no description. The extra level of vehicle selection may be needed either:
When there is no vehicle loaded on the WIP, or
When there is a vehicle on the WIP but the Service Model Group is not populated.
Note: A model codes maintenance menu option lets you assign a model group code that can be used to filter search results (the list displayed in the grid). The exact title of the Model Codes maintenance option may be worded differently and depend on your system configuration.
Model code or description: Enables you to reduce the number of items displayed in the grid to those meeting criteria specified in this box.
Tip: If you cannot quickly identify the record you require in the grid, type a word or words into the Model code or description box and press TAB to refresh the grid with records meeting your search text. If you start with the stem of the model code - for example, JT - this filters further.

Tip: If you start with the stem of the model code - for example, JT- this filters further.
Note: Clicking OK or pressing the RETURN key does not have the same effect as pressing TAB. (If the search string is only partial, the form closes.)
Either double-click the grid row (model/model code) or select the required grid row and click OK.
Depending on your requirements, you can then:
Click OK on the Labour Details form to add a labour line to the grid of the Point-of-Sale form.
