Note: This help topic contains standard information, some of which might not apply to your franchise. There might be a help file specific to your Autoline configuration. It could be either in the help system specific to your manufacturer, or displayed when you click the Help button for the form set out in this help file. The title of that form here is Model Code Maintenance Form.
Whether or not you have to run the program described in this help file depends on how the system is set up for your franchise. The menu option may also be worded slightly differently.
When you access the Search for Model - [Manufacturer] - form in Point of Sale, the Model group field may be displayed. If the field is displayed, this help file applies to you. The field lets you filter the list displayed in the grid of the Search for Model - [Manufacturer] - form. This gives you a selection level over and above the standard level of vehicle models. You see this extra level displayed in Point of Sale.
The extra level of vehicle selection may be needed either:
When there is no vehicle loaded on the WIP, or
When there is a vehicle on the WIP but the Service Model Group is not populated.
It helps you search a big list of model codes, particularly where there is no description. This facilitates assignation of models to vehicles when the Service model field is not defined in CRM.
Note: The Model field in the Model file cross-refers to the Service model field on the CRM Secondary details tab, not to the Model field on the CRM Vehicles tab. The Service Model Group field on the Extended vehicle details form in Point of Sale is set from the Service model field in CRM Secondary details tab and is populated when a CRM vehicle record is loaded to the Service Point-of-Sale form.
You assign the model group via the Model Codes maintenance program described in this help file.
After lts codes data has been converted, the Model [codes] file must be modified to identify the applicable model group. Every time you get information about a new service model, you must assign the Model Group to the new models/applicable codes.
Warning: When modifying the Model codes file to identify the applicable model group, do not create, or delete, model codes. Deletion of Model codes can have unpredictable results in Point of Sale and disable other functionality. Do not use the Models button on the Labour Operation Times Maintenance form to obtain the Models form where Model Codes can be created or deleted. Use only the Model Codes maintenance option described in this help file.
To assign the Model Group to the new service models/applicable codes:
From the OPERATIONS Menu, click Labour times schedule menu > Model Codes maintenance.
The Model Code Maintenance form is displayed.
The records from the Model file are loaded and displayed in a grid. The counter of displayed records at the bottom far right of the form displays a + (plus) sign until the end of the Model file.
Click the Model Group cell of a grid row, then enter a correct value.
This value can be typed manually, or you can search for an applicable model group from the Model Groups file via the ellipsis button displayed when you select a cell in the Model Group column of this form. (In that case, the Model Groups [standard search form] is displayed.)
The OK button becomes available when you change a grid record.
Carry out all your changes.
Note: You may not be a able to change the Model Description.
If you press the ESC[APE] key or click Cancel, and there have been changes not committed to the file, the following message is displayed in the Cancelling Process dialog box:
There are changes pending to save
Do you want to exit? Yes/No
Warning: Clicking Yes loses your changes.
Clicking No lets you remain in the form. You can then make more changes or click OK to exit and retain changes.
Click OK.
Subject to the following, all your changes are committed to the file:
If an invalid code is entered, the following message is displayed:
Model Group does not exist in file
In that case, click OK, then re-enter the correct code.
If all displayed records have a model group assigned, the program checks whether there are records not loaded into the grid. The following message is displayed in the Leaving Process dialog box:
There are Model Codes pending to read.
Do you want to load all? Yes/No
This is a warning that you cannot see all records. Click OK if you want to load all records, then scroll down to see more.
The system checks whether there are any model codes where the Model Group has not yet been assigned. If there are any such model codes, the following message is displayed in the Leaving Process dialog box:
There are Model Codes with Model Group pending to assign
Do you want to exit? Yes/No
Click Yes to retain changes and exit to the LABOUR CODE MENU, or click No to remain in the Model Codes Maintenance form.
