Updates to the Volvo VIN file are sent out by the Media Transfer Department. The update arrives in the form of a tape. The dealer must upload the file to the Autoline system and update the marketing database.
The data is uploaded onto the Autoline system and an analysis is performed to identify matches between the data from Volvo and marketing vehicle records on the dealer's system. An update is then carried out to enter the VIN, service variant code and model year onto vehicle records where necessary.
