Prior to commencing a stock check, the locations to be counted must be defined. This selection list provides the facility to achieve this.
To select a stock location:
From the Master Menu, select the Stock checking option and the Company you require.
A list of stock locations is displayed.
Select the Stock Location.
The STOCK CHECKING menu is displayed.
A list of stock locations is displayed when the Stock checking option is selected from the Autoline Master menu.
On the parts stock record, the total quantity of stock on hand can be split across up to nine different bin locations. The stock checking module supports this method of sub-definition, so on entry to this module the system displays a dialog box asking you for the Stock Check Location 1-9, where the main stock is normally held in location 1, and locations 2 to 9 are used for stock annexed elsewhere for various reasons, such as overflow stock, damaged stock, imprest stock, etc.
Note: When the stock check location is defined, all further input is assumed to be for that location. In order to change from one stock checking location to another, you should exit the Stock Checking module and select another location on re-entry.
On most stock check forms, the location number is written in red at the top of each form. The location description is only displayed if the names have been set up on the Locations tab of the Stock Management system parameters. It is therefore a worthwhile exercise to ensure that they are set up.
