Note: The create button will only be enabled once you have carried out a search.
The form presents a number of Radio button options, as follows:
You can choose which method you wish to conduct your search by selecting the appropriate radio button.
Magic Number: Will search the vehicle file for the record number. Enter the vehicle number and click on the search button, the vehicle record will be displayed.
Word search: Will search on up to three separate words, each one up to eight characters long, with a minimum of three characters to identify the vehicle concerned. Words can only be searched on stem basis, and not on a contains basis, e.g. if you are looking for vehicle(s)that are the model clio and the colour black enter cli and bla and the system will retrieve any matching records. However if you entered lio and ack, these are not the stem words of clio and black, and the system would not retrieve a match. The word search is not case sensitive and will except the search in any order e.g. bla and cli.
You will be able to search for description, colour, trim and registration number.When you have entered your criteria, click the search button. The system will now display a list of matching records showing the vehicle record number, registration number, chassis number and description.
To search again, click the cancel button in the vehicle word search results form, change the search criteria, and click the search button.
To select a vehicle click on the line and ok, this will display the vehicle details.
Registration number: Enter the vehicle registration number if known. Part registration matches may be searched for by putting a space at the beginning of the registration number. Click the search button and the system will display all matches, or an exact match then the first screen of the vehicle record will be displayed. This field can be left blank.
Chassis number: Enter the first few characters of the chassis number and click the search button. The system will display all matches or, if an exact match is found, then the first screen of the vehicle record will be displayed. This field can be left blank.
Commission number: Enter a commission number, this can be numeric of alpha and up to 20 digits. Click on the search button the system will display all matches or if an exact match is found then the first screen of the vehicle record will be displayed. This field can be left blank.
Warning: Always search thoroughly before creating a new record as duplicate vehicle records will be created.
If the vehicle record does not exist and you have carried out a thorough search, the create button will be enabled to allow you to enter the details into the vehicle file. If the vehicle word search form has not provided you with the correct target when you click cancel, you will be returned to the target marketing search form and the create button will be enable.
Tip: Vehicle-records are linked to a target-record from the vehicle file not the target file.
PUSH BUTTONS:
Search. The radio button defaults to word search, if this is left blank a message will be displayed, "Please enter a word for the word search". If the magic or ma radio button has been selected and left blank the system will display the whole target file in number order.
Cancel: Returns you to the Vehicle Records.
Help: Display help on the current application.
Create: Allows a new vehicle record to be created.
