What do you want to do?

REKA is a tool provide by Daimler to the markets to pinpoint and to focus on performances, on processes with room for optimizing on:

For markets with Autoline DMS most of the information required by REKA can be found in the system.

The purpose of this tool is to output data from Autoline for REKA purpose in a csv file format that could be import into REKA tool (Excel Program).

REKA Tool (Workshop Analysis) Form

This form is displayed when you click Manufacturer systems (Module) and MB. Mercedes-Benz (Company) > Menu - Service > REKA Tool (Workshop Analysis).

The user interface can be used to collect data and export and or view collected data for a specified combination of: Point-of-sale company, Year and month. By default, the user interface will select the first point-of-sale company available in the drop down and set the selected month and year to the previous month. The interface supports operations for the current year and the two years before it giving it a time span of three years.

Note: It is possible to schedule the REKA tools (workshop analysis) program Timed Operations but can be used interactively as well.

Menu Bar and Toolbar:

File > Exit Exit.gif Exits the REKA Tool (workshop analysis) form and returns to the Mercedes-Benz Service menu.

Action > Collect data -

Collects data for the selected period.

Note: This option collects data from all business units setup in the parameters, looking through data for all point-of-sale companies.

Action > Export data Export.gif Exports collected data from all business units of all POS companies.
Action > View data xeyes.gif Opens the REKA Tool - VIEW data form and gives the possibility to display the details of collected data and provides an overview of the source(s) used in the collection process.

Fields:

Point of Sale company: Select the POS company for which data must be collected. Default the first point-of-sale company available is selected.

Collection period:

The collection period is defaulted via the Data collection period of REKA Tool (Workshop Analysis) Parameters.

From year: Select the start year for data collection

To year: Select the end year for data collection

Start month: Select the start month for data collection

End month: Select the end month for data collection

View period:

Year: Select the required year, collected data is displayed for the selected year.

Month: Select the required month, collected data is displayed for the selected month.

Collecting Data

To collect data:

The data collection process will always try to collect data for all business units setup in the parameters looking through data for all point-of-sale companies on the Autoline system. The data is collected for the last full month that has passed when running the process in Timed Operations.

The user interface allows for the option to either re-run the data collection process or run the data collection process for other periods. Upon starting the data collection process a check is performed if data is already available for the selected period for the selected point-of-sale company. If data is already available the REKA confirm action form is displayed asking the user for confirmation to erase the previously collected data.

When the option to keep the data previously collected is selected, the data collection process for this particular period will be skipped. When the collection data process is running in timed operation previous collected data for the selected POS company for the selected period is always erased. When the field Remember answer is selected the reply chosen will be remembered and performed for the other periods in the selection, otherwise a choice has to be made for each period separately. The data acquisition will use the point of sale log files and the archive files to collect the figures for Point-of-Sale. Additionally the Stock Management and Workshop Loading modules are used to collect data.

To collect data:

  1. On the master menu, select Manufacturer systems (Module) and MB. Mercedes-Benz (Company) > Menu - Service > REKA Tool (Workshop Analysis).

    The REKA Tool (Workshop Analysis) form is displayed.

  2. Complete the Collection period and click Collect.

    Note: The data collection must be done before the data is removed from the archives.

    Note: When no data is available the user will be informed by a message that no data is available for the selected period.

Viewing Collected Data

When data has been collected for a period for a point-of-sale company (either using the user interface or by set up in Timed Operations), the user interface provides the possibility to view the data collected.

To view data:

  1. On the master menu, select Manufacturer systems (Module) and MB. Mercedes-Benz (Company) > Menu - Service > REKA Tool (Workshop Analysis).

    The REKA Tool (Workshop Analysis) form is displayed.

  2. Complete the View period and click View.

    The system checks if data is present and populates the available data in the REKA Tool (Workshop Analysis) - VIEW Data form.

    Note: A message is displayed, when no data is available for the selected period.

Exporting Data

When the REKA tools is manually started, the user has the option to only collect the data , collect the data and view the results first before exporting the data, or to export data previously collected. The REKA tool program will create a CSV file.

Note: When the REKA tools is running in Timed Operations the collected data is exported per point-of-sale company immediately after the collection process is completed for the company being processed.

Note: The Mercedes-Benz communication program (with communication type REKA) is used to transfer the export file.

The filename will have the following file format using the export date, REKAimport_C[Company number]_[Day]_[Month]_[Year].csv, and is stored in the directory ^ENV(BASE)/xfer/MB/waiting of Autoline.

To export data:

  1. On the master menu, select Manufacturer systems (Module) and MB. Mercedes-Benz (Company) > Menu - Service > REKA Tool (Workshop Analysis).

    The REKA Tool (Workshop Analysis) form is displayed.

  2. Complete the Collection period and click Export.

    A message is displayed.

  3. Do one of the following (a or b).

    1. Click Export selection.

      The selected period in the Collection period of the REKA Tool (Workshop Analysis) form is exported.

    2. Click Export full range.

      The full period (17 months) is exported.

    The export file contains a header and a data part. The header consists one line.
