The address validation program is a program, installed on a server and is able to validate addresses. An Interface has been created between Autoline and the address validation program. The Interface is able to send addresses from the Autoline Marketing module to the address validation program, which validates the addresses and send back the results.
Because the address format is different in every country, the street can be on a different place, Autoline can use Country Specifics to display the format different then it is saved.
If Country Specifics is used it is possible that changes have to be made to the Mercedes-Benz address validation interface.
The Mercedes-Benz address validation Interface has the possibility to validate addresses in batch or per address. Both methods are explained below.
To validate a single address of a Target or company, you must:
If the address is validated as correctly, the text Address validated is put in the title of the Address Groupbox.
If any differences are found, the Result from the address validation form is displayed. Select the correct address from the form and select the Accept button to update the address on the Marketing record.
It is possible that the address validation program finds more than one address. In that case all addresses are displayed in the form.
Select one of the correct addresses and select the Accept button to take it over to the Marketing record.
If a validated address is taken over to the Marketing record, again the text 'Address validated' is put in the title of the Groupbox. If the address is changed after that, the text is removed again.
It's possible that the address validation interface is not able to retrieve the address correctly. In that case an error message is displayed. Below a number of cases in which the errors occur.
It is possible to exclude Marketing locations from the Address Validation by setting them up in the Mercedes-Benz parameters.
If then a user wants to validate an address for that location, a message is given.
The address that must be validated is prepared before it is transmitted. This preparation means that the marketing address is put together in a address validation readable order. If this fails, a message is given.
In this case the address validation is not possible.
After the address preparation, the XML file (XML format), which is used to send the address from Autoline to address validation server, is created. If it is not possible to create the XML file, a message is given.
In this case the address validation is not possible.
After the XML file is created, the connection with the machine on which the address validation software is installed is tried to establish, using the information from the Mercedes-Benz address validation parameters.
If the connection cannot be made, an error message is given.
In this case the address validation is not possible.
After the connection has been established, the XML file containing the address that must be validated, is send to the address validation server.
If an error occurs while sending the XML file, a message is given.
In this case the address validation is not possible.
After the XML file is sent, the address validation program will validate the address and give a return message. It is possible that the Mercedes-Benz address validation Interface cannot read this message.
In that case a message is given. In this case the address validation is not possible.
It is possible that there is no connection between the Autoline server and the address validation server during receiving data from the address validation server.
In that case a message is given. Because it is not possible to receive the validated address from the address validation server, the validation cannot be completed.
It might be possible that when writing the XML, with the address that must be validated, has somehow gone wrong. Also if the login, which is set up in the Mercedes-Benz address validation parameters, has no priority to write the XML message on the address validation server.
In these cases a message is given. The address validation program creates the messages in the textbox below. In this case the address validation is not possible.
