The location creation function calculates the number of bins per rack, the number of floors per rack and the number of sections per rack floor prior to the actual creation of the calculated number of bins.
Note: The flexible rack sizing functionality is currently only utilized in Italy

This form is displayed when you click Manufacturer systems (Module) and MB. Mercedes-Benz (Company) > Menu - Parts > Select SM company (if applicable) > Stock location maintenance > Maintenance > Location Creation menu bar command.

Updates the Multiple parts Stock locations file with information from the stock file. The complete stock file is searched and all part numbers with allocated bin locations will be added to the Mercedes-Benz (MB) Multiple parts Stock locations file. This MB file is used to store more than one part number per bin location. Tip: You can configure the Populate allocation file in Timed operations with module MS and option MSMBBIN, the Stock location maintenance automatically runs the Populate allocation file program. You should use the following settings: Company number is MB, Frequency is Once only should be sufficient and When to run is the day you want to run the program. |

Details:
Region: Enter the physical location of the parts warehouse, these the are first two positions of the generated BIN location.
Rack size: Select the rack size required within the parts warehouse (only applicable in Italy).
Note: A standard rack size is 1000 cm width and 2000 cm height.
Row From: Enter the required start row number, this is position 3 of the generated BIN location.
Row To: Enter the required end row number, this is position 4 of the generated BIN location.
Section From: Enter the start section number, these are position 5 and 6 of the generated BIN location.
Section To: Enter the end section number.
Start at floor no: Enter the floor number to start on (only applicable in Italy).
Bin code: Select the bin location.
Zone: Select a bin zone within a parts warehouse.
Progress:
The progress indicator displays the progress of the creation of the BIN location and setting the defaults for storage types and zones.
If you try to create existing BIN locations, a message is displayed. The log file displays an entry that no BIN locations are created.
To add a bin location:
On the master menu, select Manufacturer systems (Module) and MB. Mercedes-Benz (Company) > Menu - Parts > Select SM company (if applicable) > Stock location maintenance > Maintenance > Location Creation menu bar command.
The Bin Locations Maintenance form is displayed.
Enter the fields on the form.
The Create toolbar button and Action > Create menu bar command becomes available.
Click the Create toolbar button or click the Action > Create menu bar command.
A dialog message is displayed.
Click Yes
The program calculates the number of bins per rack, the number of floors per rack and the number of sections per rack floor for the warehouse based upon the entered Bin Locations Maintenance form and a message is displayed.
Click OK
Before any BIN locations are deleted, the program will check if they are not assigned to a part or if there are no occupied BIN locations of this type in the same rack. In the log file displays an entry that a rack is still in use.
To clear unused bins:
On the master menu, select Manufacturer systems (Module) and MB. Mercedes-Benz (Company) > Menu - Parts > Select SM company (if applicable) > Stock location maintenance > Maintenance > Location Creation menu bar command.
The Bin Locations Maintenance form is displayed.
Enter the fields on the form, for which you want to clear the bin.
The Clear toolbar button and Action > Clear menu bar command becomes available.
Click the Clear toolbar button or click the Action > Clear menu bar command.
A dialog message is displayed.
Click Yes
The empty bins are deleted and a message is displayed.
Click OK
Note: Before removing a bin from a location, a check is made to make sure that there are no occupied bin locations of this type in the same rack. If one occupied bin location was found in a rack, no bin location in this rack will be deleted.
