Manufacturer Trims/Cabtypes

This table holds all the available interior trims for the franchises held by the dealer or group of dealers so far as passenger cars and light commercial vehicles are concerned, and the cab type configurations for heavy commercial vehicles, where trim is not of importance.

Franchise Code: The key to the table is a combination of the up to three-digit franchise code .

Code: Consists of up to a five-character alpha numeric trim or cab type code. In that way, if more than one franchise is held, and coincidentally the same trim or cab type code is used in more than one franchise, then it is possible to set them up without conflict.

This trim or cab type code will be used in conjunction with the colour code to define the colour and trim or wheel base and cab type of specific vehicle. Later on in topic 'Colour and trim options' we will cover the set-up of these valid combinations.

Warning: Extreme caution should be exercised with regard to the deletion of trim codes that have been on file for any measurable length of time due to the possible ramifications of deleting one from the master table which has already been attributed to other records elsewhere, such as in colour and trim combinations, CRM or vehicle records.

Detail Tab

Position: Position of code in colour-chart.

Description: Enter the relevant description for the trim or cab type code here, up to 20 characters long.

Generic trim code: The generic trim code is used to provide broad trim or cab type analysis regardless of specific trim or cab type. In a multi-franchise environment, it can be used to group all vehicles with cloth trim, as opposed to those with leather trim, etc., with or without colour sub-definition, as the dealer sees fit. Even in a single franchise environment, it can provide continuity across specific trim changes such as Epsom grey cloth being replaced by Chester grey cloth, or beige leather being replaced by light tan leather, etc. In that way, using the generic trim or cab type code, vehicle park and sales analysis data across different specific trim or cab type codes is possible.

There is a search facility available here, activated by clicking on the [...] Ellipsis button.

Colour to use (RGB): It is possible to set up against each manufacturer's trim or cabtype base code a sample of colour. Their is a search facility which can be used here, activated by clicking on the white box, This will display colour samples that can be used. The RGB colour is hierarchical.

Picture code: This field is used in cases where images (computerized pictures) of vehicles are stored on the system, and subsequently displayed in either quotations or displays of stock lists. This can be used in-conjunction with the RGB Colour field. The picture is hierarchical.

The generic trim or cab type codes entered here are validated against a table of codes set up in the Miscellaneous menu.
