This table holds all of the available colours for the franchises held by the dealer or group of dealers, so far as passenger cars and light commercial vehicles are concerned, and the wheel base configurations for heavy commercial vehicles, where colour is not of importance.
Franchise Code: The key to the table is a combination of the up to three-digit franchise code (see Franchise codes').
Code: Consists of up to a five-character alpha numeric colour or wheel base code.
In that way, if more than one franchise is held, and coincidentally the same colour or wheel base code is used in more than one franchise, then it is possible to set them up without conflict.
Relative Position: In addition, there is a numeric position code which determines the order in which colour or wheel base codes are displayed when searching for them (rather than relying on the alpha-numeric order of the colour or wheel base codes themselves).
This colour or wheel base code will be used in conjunction with the trim or cab type code to define the colour and trim or wheel base and cab type of a specific vehicle. Later on in 'Colour and trim options' we will cover the set-up of these valid combinations.
Description: Enter the relevant description for the colour or wheel base code here, up to 20 characters long.
Colour to use (RGB): It is possible to set up against each manufacturer's colour or wheel base code a sample of colour. There is a search facility which can be used here, activated by clicking on the white box, This will display colour samples that can be used. The RGB colour is hierarchical.
Generic colour code: The generic colour code is used to provide broad colour or wheel base analysis regardless of specific colour or wheel base. In a multi-franchise environment it can be used to group all red vehicles, as opposed to blue ones, green ones, black one, white ones, etc. Even in a single franchise environment, it can provide continuity across colour changes such as Rosso red being replaced by Ruby red, or Regency blue being replaced by Westminster blue, etc. In that way, using the generic colour code, vehicle and sales analysis data across different specific colour or wheel base codes is possible.
A search facility is also available here, activated by clicking on
the button.
Colour type: This field is used to provide a description of the type of colour that is being used. The options available are Black, Mica, Metallic, Pearlescent, Standard and Two tone. Click on the drop down menu facility, adjacent to the Colour type field, in order to view and select the available colour types.
Government colour codes: These two fields are used to enter the Government Colour codes that the colours that have been used conform to.
The generic colour or wheel base codes entered here are validated against a table of codes set up in the Miscellaneous menu.
Picture code: This field is used in cases where images (computerized pictures) of vehicles are stored on the system, and subsequently displayed in either quotations or displays of stock lists. This can be used in-conjunction with the RGB Colour field. The picture is hierarchical.
Copy: Copies fields on form, instead of re-entering data, and can be used for further franchise variants.
