A spooler (Simultaneous Peripheral Operation On-Line) can be defined as software or hardware to which data is spooled and which processes that data in the background (such as printing the data). To spool is to send files to a device or program (such as a spooler or daemon) that puts them in a queue for later processing of some kind.
This form is displayed when you click System Utilities > Spool Utilities > Spool configuration. It enables you to configure spool details.
Printer stream: Printer stream number, selectable with an ellipsis button.
Spool description: Up to 40 character description of the spooler.
Print: When this check box is ticked, the printer is set up as a print spooler.
Auto archive: When this check box is ticked, this printer archives automatically.
UNIX device address: UNIX device address of the spooler.
Mini parameters: Used only for UNIX direct serial printing.
Report banner: When this check box is ticked, the spooled printout adds an operating system header with date and time stamp to the top of the document.
User or email group available to: Enables spoolers to be accessed by individual users or mail groups (Unix only). For example, programs such as End Of Day D.O.C in Timed Operations can be mailed to groups or users who have access to a particular spooler.
