This feature, which is available on all modules of the system, enables the system administrator to:
Prevent users from gaining access to the module or, if that has already been done, re-enable access
Display a list of users currently logged into the module, possibly prior to deciding whether or not to prevent further access
Clear the module's control file of any users who were logged into the system but did not log out correctly and have left a corresponding entry in the control file
To clear users illegally logged onto a module:
From the Autoline master menu select the customer contact management option
The Customer Contact Management menu is displayed.
Select the System maintenance option
The CM System Maintenance menu is displayed.
Select the Prevent/allow access option
The Prevent/allow Access form is displayed.
Check that the Company and Module, displayed as text near the top of the form, are correct, and select the Display Users button
The grid displays users logged on, one per line.
Check each line's User ID column and note those that the system has identified as no longer correctly logged in
You verify, possibly from other sources concerning the nature of the problem, that the users the system has identified as no longer correctly logged in is reasonable.
To proceed with properly logging off those users, select the Clear Illegal Users button on the Prevent/allow Access form
Users illegally logged into the module are removed from the module's control file.
This form is displayed when you select Prevent/allow access from the CM System Maintenance menu. It enables:
Prevention of users gaining read/write access to a module's files and, when files are locked, re-enabling read/write access
Displaying a list of users currently logged into a module
Clearing the module's control file of any users who are logged into the system but are no longer using it
Text displayed near the top of the form indicates the Autoline module and company.
Status: A tick prevents anyone logging in to the module in the company concerned
When you tick the Status check box, its label is re-displayed Access prevented by... appended with your login code and terminal number. Users logged in are unaffected, but after logging out of the module, if they attempt regain access, a dialog box displays, on their terminal, a message that access is prevented. Conversely, when you un-tick the Status check box, its label is re-displayed Access allowed. Where individual access permissions allow, users are then enabled with read/write access to the module in the company/branch concerned.
Note: Access must be re-conferred from the terminal on which the prevent/allow access facility was originally run.
GRID:
Terminal: Numeric identifier
Location: Where the terminal is
User ID: The user's login ID
Access: The user's access type:
I: The user is in the module
X: The user is accessing the module in eXclusive-use mode. Any other users attempting to use the module are prevented from doing so.
PUSH BUTTONS:
Display Users: Populates the grid with users currently logged into the module (for the selected company or branch)
Tip: The list of users may include illegal users; those not logged out correctly; the User ID in their grid line indicates that the software has detected the illegal configuration. This information may help you make contact with them and, if necessary, get them logged-out.
Clear Illegal Users: Removes, from the control file, users illegally logged into the module. The grid updates.
