Uploading Parts Data from Tape

If you receive price or supersession data on tape, you must upload the data to the Autoline system each time a new release is received.

Note: If your manufacturer does not supply a supersession file, you can build a supersession chain if superseding part numbers are stored on your price file.

To upload parts data from tape:

  1. From the OPERATIONS menu, select the Parts price file menu option.

The MASTER PARTS PRICE FILE MENU is displayed.

  2. Select the Load parts data from tape option.

The system prompts you to select an item from the list.

Note: Up to three files are listed (where ## is the two-character franchise ID):

  3. Select the file that you want to upload.

A menu is displayed, prompting you to select one of the following two options:

  4. Select Upload-from-tape.

A further menu is displayed, prompting you to select one of the following two options:

  5. Select Continue.

The system transfers the main files to the data directory and uploads the files automatically. The following message is displayed:

    Done-OK

  6. Click OK.

Note: If the upload fails, speak to your Systems Administrator in the first instance in case there is a problem with your tape device. If there is no problem with the device, contact the distributor of the tape.

  7. If you uploaded a price file, you must update the stock file with these changes. Do this for all stock companies used by your franchise.

  8. To make the changes effective on your system, it is recommended that all users log out and then log back in.
