Web Service Parameters

If a GM application uses Web Services to retrieve its data, a record must be set up in web service parameters.

To set up a record in web service parameters:

  1. From the GENERAL MOTORS OPERATIONS menu, select the General utilities option.

    The MS UTILITIES MENU is displayed.

  2. Select ADP utilities.

    The ADP Utilities menu is displayed.

  3. Select Web Service parameters.

    The Web Service Parameters form is displayed.

  4. Click Add.

    The Add New Web Service Parameter Record form is displayed.

  5. Complete the form and click OK.

    The web service parameter record is set up.

Web Service Parameters Form

ID: Identifies a web service parameters record.

Description: Describes the web service parameters record.

Buttons:

Exit: Returns you to the ADP Utilities menu.

Add: Adds a new web service parameters record.

Amend: Enables you to edit the currently selected web service parameters record.

Delete: Deletes the currently selected web service parameters record.

View: Displays SOAP and WSDL information about the currently selected web service parameters record.

Add New Web Service Parameter Record Form

General:

ID: Identifies the new web service parameters record. The ID should be set to GM_SMP.

Note: The rest of the settings will be specific to the dealer, who will know the web service user name and password.

Description: Describes the new web service.

General URL: General URL for web service, or blank if not applicable.

Web service:

WSDL: Full location of the WSDL

Tip: Click the ellipsis button to select from a list of local WSDL files.

Username: User name for accessing the web service.

Password: Password for accessing the web service.

Literal mode: Select this check box if the web service requires an XML document to be passed as a single argument to its methods.

Proxy server:

Use proxy server: Select this check box if a proxy is used to access the internet.

IP address: IP address of the proxy server.

Port number: Port number of the proxy server.

Username: User name to connect to the proxy server.

Password: Password to connect to the proxy server.

Stunnel:

Use Stunnel: Select this check box if Stunnel is used for web service communication.

IP address: IP address of the server where Stunnel is running.

Port number: Port number for the server where Stunnel is running. This should be the same as the accept setting in stunnel.conf.

Connection string: Stunnel connection string. This should be the same as the connect setting in stunnel.conf.

Show passwords: When this check box is selected, the password to connect to the proxy server is displayed in full rather than as a row of asterisks.
