Updating Multiple & Conditional Supersessions

Note: This help topic contains manufacturer-specific details only for GM. For details of standard functions, refer to the Manufacturer Systems (MS) Utilities help system.

In order to update multiple and conditional supersessions data, a new process will be run after price file update, so that every record from GE.MS.pfuss containing multiple or conditional supersessions info, previously stored into MS.suass file, will be processed, updating the stock files.

You can perform an automatic update that processes parts supersession details, applying single and multiple changes to the parts stock file records. However, the multiple supersessions that are carried out are done in a fixed manner where no user options apply. Therefore the options shown are only required for, and only apply to, single supersessions carried out by the software.

For each multiple supersession, this process creates into stock file a new part number adding to the original superseded part number -KIT, and creates as many records as needed into kits & assemblies files, containing the component parts of the multiple supersessions (see the Display Stock Card form). The part is created with the non stock item flag switched on. This is because the part number created is a virtual part to identify the superseding kit.

In addition, for each conditional supersession, the system creates as many records as needed into texts files, writing the part numbers of every component of the conditional supersession.

To apply single and multiple changes to the parts stock file records:

  1. From the GENERAL MOTORS OPERATIONS menu, select the Parts price file menu option and click OK.

The MASTER PARTS PRICE FILE MENU is displayed.

  2. Click Multiple supersessions update and click OK.

The Stock file update from price file form is displayed.

  3. Make the necessary changes to the form and click Update.

The stock file updates that you have specified are made, and the message Stock file updates complete OK is displayed at the bottom of the form.

  4. Click Exit.

You are returned to the MASTER PARTS PRICE FILE MENU.
