Each time a menu pricing data conversion is performed via the Menu Pricing setup option, the current menu pricing data and dealer settings are normally backed up automatically. For Vauxhall, however, this is not the case because the GME data is held and maintained by the manufacturer, and accessed in Point-of-Sale by connecting to a web-site via remote communications. If required, however, Vauxhall dealers may still want to use the backup/restore facility to manually backup or restore dealer settings. This includes the:
Each time a backup or restore is performed, log files are produced, which you can view.
What do you want to do?
This form is displayed when you select File > Backup and restore on the Vauxhall GME Menu Pricing Setup form. From this form, you can manually back up and restore menu pricing data if required, and view the log files.
Backup:
Backup: Backs up menu pricing data.
View logfile: Displays the logfile (GMSMP_BACKUP) created the last time a backup was performed.
Restore:
Restore: Restores the previous version of menu pricing data.
View logfile: Displays the logfile (GMSMP_BACKUP) created the last time a restore of menu pricing data was performed.
This form is displayed when you click View logfile in the Backup group on the Backup and Restore form. From this form you can view details about the last backup of menu pricing data performed.
Note: You can also access the backup logfile by clicking Backup on the Status tab of the Vauxhall GME Menu Pricing Setup form.
If the backup is performed successfully, details similar to the following are displayed:
Menu pricing data backup
Date: Date on which the backup was performed
Time: Time at which the backup was performed
User ID: Login ID of the user that performed the backup
Client name: Name of the computer on which the backup was performed
Backing up old source data
Source directory: Path in which the source data is held
Backup directory: Path in which the source data is backed up
Checking disk space: When old source data is backed up, a check for disk space is carried out. If there is sufficient disk space, the message OK is displayed here because GME data is not uploaded or converted via Menu Pricing setup.
For Vauxhall, the message No source data to backup is displayed here because GME data is not uploaded or converted via Menu Pricing setup.
Backing up current data
Source directory: Path in which the current live menu pricing data is held
Backup directory: Path in which the current live menu pricing data is backed up
Checking disk space: When current data is backed up, a check for disk space is carried out. If there is sufficient disk space, the message OK is displayed here.
List of current data files backed up, such as GM.MS.mpcon and GM.MS.mpdlr. For each file, the message Backed up successfully is displayed.
This form is displayed when you click View logfile in the Restore group on the Backup and Restore form. From this form you can view details about the last restore of menu pricing data performed.
Note: You can also access the restore logfile by clicking Restore on the Status tab of the Vauxhall GME Menu Pricing Setup form.
If the restore is performed successfully, details similar to the following are displayed:

Restoring data
Source directory: Path in which the current live menu pricing data is held
Backup directory: Path in which the current live menu pricing data is backed up
List of data files restored, such as GM.MS.mpcon and GM.MS.mpdlr. For each file, the message Restored successfully is displayed.
If required, you can manually back up menu pricing data. This procedure backs up the source data and the live menu pricing data.
To manually backup menu pricing data:
From the GENERAL MOTORS OPERATIONS menu, select the GME menu pricing option.
The Vauxhall GME Menu Pricing menu is displayed.
Select the Menu Pricing setup option.
If there is more than one Point-of-Sale (SO) company, the system prompts you for the SO company.
Select the SO company, if applicable.
The Vauxhall GME Menu Pricing Setup form is displayed.
Select File > Backup and restore.
The Backup And Restore form is displayed.
Click Backup in the Backup group box.
The following message is displayed:
Are you sure you want to backup all menu pricing data?
Click OK.
A progress of the backup is displayed, and the following message is displayed in the status bar:
Backing up menu pricing data
When the backup is completed, the View Log File (MS/logs/GMSMP_BACKUP) is displayed.
When you have finished reviewing the backup log, click Close.
You are returned to the Backup and Restore form.
Click Close.
You are returned to the Vauxhall GME Menu Pricing Setup form.
Each time a backup is performed, a log file is generated. The log file is named GMSMP_BACKUP, and is stored in a directory on the Autoline system called MS/logs. You can view this log file via the Backup and Restore form as described here, or via the Status tab of the Vauxhall GME Menu Pricing Setup form.
To view the backup log file:
Display the Backup And Restore form as described in the backup procedure.
Click View logfile.
The View Log File form is displayed.
If required, you can manually restore the previous version of menu pricing data, if required. This facility restores the source data and the live menu pricing data from the latest backup.
To restore menu pricing data:
From the GENERAL MOTORS OPERATIONS menu, select the GME Menu pricing option.
The Vauxhall GME Menu Pricing menu is displayed.
Select the Menu Pricing setup option.
If there is more than one Point-of-Sale (SO) company, the system prompts you for the SO company.
Select the SO company, if applicable.
The Vauxhall GME Menu Pricing Setup form is displayed.
Select File > Backup and restore.
The Backup And Restore form is displayed.
Click Restore in the Restore group box.
The following message is displayed:
Are you absolutely sure you want to restore the menu pricing data from the last backup?
Click OK.
A progress of the restore is displayed, and the following message is displayed in the status bar:
Restoring menu pricing data...
When the data is successfully restored, the View Log File form (MS/logs/GMSMP_RESTORE) is displayed.
When you have finished reviewing the restore log, click Close.
You are returned to the Backup and Restore form.
Click Close.
You are returned to the Vauxhall GME Menu Pricing Setup form.
