GM has introduced a new menu pricing application to the GM network. This product will be integrated using web services so that the actual user front end can be built into the DMS. The software is built on a new generic called Shopping Basket rather than generic Menu Pricing.
The Shopping Basket is branded for Vauxhall dealers and is called Vauxhall Aftersales Workbench in the Vauxhall world. In this help system, the Shopping Basket is referred to as Vauxhall Aftersales Workbench in the context of Vauxhall.
The data and web services are provided by Clifford Thames (http://www.clifford-thames.com).
The GM Workbench Administrator program in Manufacturer Systems creates all necessary files. Where possible, some files are populated automatically during the initial entry into the program.
When the files have been created, the next stage is to set up the parameters, which enable the software to be tailored to the needs of each POS company. Some of the parameters are automatically supplied for you.
Lastly, as GM menu pricing uses Web Services to retrieve its data, a record must be set up in the Web Service parameters program.
Note: The ID in the Web Service parameters should be set to GM_SMP. The rest of the settings will be specific to the dealer, who will know the web service user name and password.
This software does not require Stunnel as it uses OpenSSL.
