Before you can use data supplied by Volvo in Point-of-Sale, you must import it and convert it into the format recognised by the Autoline system.
To import and convert data:
Click VOLVO UK OPERATIONS menu > VSTG.
The Volvo UK VSTG menu is displayed.
Click Convert VSTG.
The VSTG Conversion form is displayed.
Click the File > Import source data menu bar command or click the Import source data toolbar button.
The Data Import form is displayed.
Click Settings.
The Data Import Settings form is displayed.
Complete the form and click Save.
The Data Import form is re-displayed, with your chosen data source (Unix device, FTP Server or Client PC) shown.
Click Import. Confirm that you want to continue with the import by clicking Yes.
A stage-by-stage indication of the progress of the import process is displayed. When importing is complete, click OK.
Click Close on the Data Import form.
The VSTG Conversion form is re-displayed.
To convert the VSTG data, click Convert.
A progress bar provides a visual indication of the progress of the conversion. When the conversion is complete, a Conversion completed message is displayed.
Click OK.
The data is now ready for use in Point-of-Sale.
Click the File > Exit menu bar command or click the Exit toolbar button on the VSTG Conversion form.
You return to the Volvo UK VSTG menu.
This form is displayed when you click File > Import source data or click VSTG Conversion form > Import source data . It enables you to import data supplied by Volvo or a third party into the Autoline system, and to specify the data source.
Buttons:
Import: Imports data for converting to a file format readable by the Autoline system
Settings: Displays the Data Import Settings form, which enables you to specify the data source (Unix device, FTP Server or Client PC)
Help: Displays help on the current program using the default browser
Close: Closes the Data Import form and displays the VSTG Conversion form
Progress bar
The progress bar and the box at the bottom of the form provide a stage-by-stage indication of the progress of the import process.
This form is displayed when you click Data Import form > Settings. It enables you to specify the data source.
The form has three group boxes, which can be made available by selecting the option (radio) button corresponding to the data source:
You must complete this group box if the data is to be imported from a Unix device.
Device: Name of the device from which you will import data
Tip: A list of valid devices is available from the drop-down menu.
You must complete this group box if the data is to be imported from an FTP server.
IP address: IP address of the FTP server
Login: User login to the FTP server
Password: User's password to log in to the FTP server
Directory: Path to the directory on the FTP server in which the data is held
Transfer mode: Select either Binary or Ascii type data
You must complete this group box if the data is to be imported from a client PC.
Source directory: Path to the directory on the client PC in which the data is held
Source file zipped: Selected if the source data is compressed in a zip file
Zip filename: If the source file is zipped, the name of the zip file
Temp directory: If the source file is zipped, the path to the temporary directory in which the system can unzip the file
ZIP password: If the source file is zipped, the name of the password used to protect the zip file
Buttons:
Cancel: Cancels any changes made to the settings and returns to the Data Import form
Save: Saves any changes made to the settings and returns to the Data Import form
