In order that the logic of Perpetual Inventory is able to produce sensible results (such as the number of items to count per day), the system needs to know the number of parts in each classification class across the stock file. The Rebuild stock count option simply scans the stock file and automatically rebuilds the field No. of stocked parts in the classification record.
Examples of a rebuild:
Classification Code A Fast-moving parts - 500 lines
Classification Code B Average-moving parts - 2500 lines
Classification Code C Slow-moving parts - 300 lines
Note: If a stock file is constantly changing with the introduction of new lines to be counted or the deletion of old lines, the field No. of stocked parts needs to be adjusted and be representative of the stock file. It does not need to be completely accurate, but Autoline software support staff recommend this program is run at least monthly, or more often depending on the dynamics of your stock file.
