Classification Codes

This program is used in Perpetual Inventory to determine the classification codes used within it. The classification code is a single alpha character, and mirrors the re-order category field within the part number record. You must therefore look at each re-order category used in Stock Management and decide how often each category should be counted during a year. For example, fast-moving parts may be monitored more frequently than slow-moving parts. A classification code must be set up (using the same letter) for each re-order category used in Stock Management to be included in a Perpetual Inventory stock check.

Note: A part whose re-order category does not have an associated classification code in this file is not included in a Perpetual Inventory check. An example of these parts may be non-stock lines, non-balance lines or supersedes.

To access classification codes:

  1. From the Master Menu, select the Stock checking option and the Company you require.

You are prompted for the stock location.

  2. Select the Stock Location.

The STOCK CHECKING menu is displayed.

  3. Select Perpetual options.

  4. Select the Classification codes option.

The Classification Codes form is displayed.
